ram air? or noma hood?

so...as usual, i can't ever stick with anything on my truck, as soon as i get something on, i up and decide to replace it, but i've been thinking about getting rid of my ram air hood. and go with a noma hood instead, just for a simpler look.

here's what it currently looks like, green bravada bumper and all still keep in mind the opening in the bravada bumper will eventually be filled with billet, once i get my hands on some that'll be a close enough fit, or a big piece, that i can just cut to fit...sorry for the shatty pics.

Re: ram air? or noma hood?

I like my noma hood but also like ram air. So its kinda a toss up. But because I have the noma hood that's what I run on my dime.

97 sonoma- bagged and fully shaved 18" kmc wheels-

Re: ram air? or noma hood?

Ram air but I'm biased! My dad's 96 zr2 has a noma hood and if I didn't have the ram air I would but a noma on mine. But ram air gets my vote.

-'01 ZR-2, 32" Mud Brutes, ZR5 wheels, K&N drop-in, Thrush Welded dumped, Smitybuilt tailgate net, Fabtech tire carrier, Cobra CB with single antenna, GM roll pan and Hidden Hitch, Viair compressor and 2 gal. air tank SOLD(to mom!)

I miss my ZR2 too much. In the market for a new one!

did you bother reading what i posted? lol

don't particularly want a cowl styled hood. i already have the 2" ramair hood shown, it's either stick with that, or go noma.

Re: ram air? or noma hood?

thats what i'm torn on, been holding out on paint, to do the bumper, hood, and tailgate all at once, tailgate needs a little more bodywork done, before it could be painted. just got terribly burned out on working on my own truck.

after all the work i put in, cutting out the center, and mounting that billet, it does make me wanna stick with it. what a pita that was.

i think once i get billet in the bumper, i'll be more apt, to wanna stick with it, with the front billeted out.

Re: ram air? or noma hood?

i has paint and all, just haven't done it yet..

hood is pretty much accounted for, it's just a matter of acquiring a sonoma hood now, and it's either get an off color one, and buy more paint, cause i only really have enough to do the bumper, or buy one already black, and there isn't shit that i've found locally yet. i found a black sonoma one on car-part.com for $150, it lists as s-10/sonoma in the listing, but states SLS in the description, along with "buff" so i'm assuming this is one that's off the truck it was on originally, and they took the time to clean it up a bit, and buff it, and try to jack the price up.

otherwise, i'm seeing other hoods for 75-125 mostly, around here.

i'm going to call around to a few other local places, and see. i think either way, i'd be coming out around the same price, once i buy a $75 hood, i have to buy the paint and all for it...or i can get one already black, and supposedly buffed, for 150. but i have the 3 closer yards to me, that i have yet to call.

the only other thing, is the hood squirters, all my parts for that, line, reservoir, etc is all gone, even my original squirters, someone needed some on here, so i shipped them to him, so i'd at least have to stick a pair in the hood, to fill the holes. if i were to get the black one, at least.

ahh..lots of brainstorming and figuring out to do...we'll see.

Re: ram air? or noma hood?

I would have to say noma hood...only because change is good.

I like the one you have now, but I'm partial to simplicity, where the cowl/billet draw too much attention for my liking.

Off topic...whats your bumper off of?

Re: ram air? or noma hood?

Looks pretty good on there.

I still have to go with the Noma hood. Only because I have one laying in my garage that I need to get painted and put on. (30$ at the U-pull it, great condition too) haha.

But...every time I scroll back up now and look at your truck again your hood grows on me. The sporty look goes with the ss mirrors. Your first picture is amazing...I love the stance of a slammed S10 front shot, especially yours. haha

Re: ram air? or noma hood?

only my truck isn't slammed.. or nowhere near it.

i wish i could get my hands on one for $30 in good shape, it would be no question. all the yards around here are bitches, and will allow you to walk the yard, in some cases, others, you have to be escorted out...so gay.

but most, you go look at the vehicle, say yea, i want that part, and then they have someone pull it for you..

You pics Lie!!...haha. Anything lower than mine is "slammed". haha

That's weird though. We have a few good ones within an hour and a half drive.
I may be running mine in primer though...Just called Maaco and the guy said ~$350-400 just to sand it down, prim and spray...**** that, I'll rattle can it first. haha I know you get what you pay for...but I'm not paying that much yet...

Re: ram air? or noma hood?

maaco? **** that, thats rediculous.

the closest yard that i know of, kinda like the one you listed is pull-a-part, in charlotte, which is a good 2 hours away, pay like a dollar to go in, and they have a ton of cheap shit, i looked up their price list, and they listed a truck hood for 33 bucks, not including the core charge, however that works..core charge for a junkyard? meh.

they have a shitload of sonomas listed at that location, just don't know if they are wrecked in the front, or what. you know.

wouldn't be shit to pull a hood though.

get the side cowl panels off, clip the underhood lightbulb wire, line for the squirters, and unbolt the bitch. lol.

i may take you up on that offer, who knows, luis has been wanting to hit one up, he may just up and wanna go this weekend, knowing him..haha.
