Poll: stepside bed or fleetside bed

i wanted a stepside bed for awhile but its been really hard to find one in good shape for a decent price.

so now im starting think about just getting a better fleetside bed since mine is really bad off (even tho it doesnt look so bad) and doing a raised bed floor in it so i can still haul things if i needed to.

should i do the fleetside with raised floor or keep looking for a stepside?

Re: Poll: stepside bed or fleetside bed

i used to have a stepside bed on my truck then i got in an accident and the insurance didnt cover it since i had liability only and i didnt hit anyone. so i searched for a while for another stepside and everyone wanted like $1000 for them here. so i called on some fleetsides and found one the same color as my truck with one dent for $200. didnt like it at first but it grew on me and i think i like it better than the stepside now

Stepside here for sure. Even without a wide tire filling it up IMO it looks sportier. Then with step shaver kit narrowing the ass end, it's perfect.

I like them both but fleetside looks cleaner. I ususally hate all stepsides but the s10 one looks sick, but then again s10s just look sick in general too.

Re: Poll: stepside bed or fleetside bed

I like stepsides better, but the older style on Full-size trucks. As for me, stepside loses too much of my bed space. I say you get a fleetside, mold the step side panels onto it (pushing the wheelwells out farther) and make your truck a dually.

where are you located that they can get 1000 for a stepside bed? I have sent 2 almost perfect beds to the scrap yard in the last 3 months because I couldnt sell them (had them on craigslist for 300, then 200, then 100, then scrapped them).

I prefer stepside. looks way better on ZQ8,or any lowered truck.looks awful on 4x4 and lifted trucks tho!

I'd say stepside. Idk about being hard to come by tho. pretty common around me.i actually had two spare beds a few months ago.i sold them on Craigslist..

Re: Poll: stepside bed or fleetside bed

To each their own, but I would never buy a stepside truck. If my truck ever got smashed, I'd make a hick ass wood flatbed for it before I put a stepside on it, even if it was free. I guess it just kind of pisses me off how the look of the truck is not smooth with a step side. The hard indents of the step parts and the rubber pads there on the bed kinda stick out like a sore thumb to me.

i have a stepside with metal step shavers and raised bed floor with storage underneath and i love it but i cant body my truck with it because i have to raise the fenders. so if anyone wants a nice bed ill trade it for a fleetside

I have a couple stepside beds I could part with & I voted stepside. I like fleetside too; all depends on the overall finished product though.

whitelowereddime I have a fleetside w/ roll pan, flipped TG handle & shaved gas door to trade.

Re: Poll: stepside bed or fleetside bed

Ive had countless fleetsides and with my current StepSide i am sold on stepside S10's.

When the step shavers are done and a roll pan put on them there is nothing like that look.

Mine has the billet steps on it near the cab which really set it off too.

As far as function goes, I have a bed cover and if its over 500 pounds (it is a SS after all) or too big to fit under the cover I just hook up my full size truck aka the 5x8 trailer.
