Re: Post random stuff from cellphone cameras: Part II

Well there was a trailer full of diesel engines sinking into the ground at our shop at school because nobody realized that you have to put wood under the landing gear when you park a trailer.. so I moved it today into a new position and placed wood under the landing gear.

That truck isn't the nicest thing in the world.. but hey, it did the job.

Everything we have was donated to us so the trailer isn't Meijer's anymore and it's just used for storage. In this case, the trailer was donated by Meijer and the semi from the Eaton Fuller proving grounds. But yes, the trailer is full from front to back with diesel engines.

Re: Post random stuff from cellphone cameras: Part II

Replacing a popular Toyota starter for a customer. Installed a Bosch reman, turned the key.... nothing.

Rechecked my connections, pulled the new starter out. Noticed the battery post was now loose, no warranty if it gets twisted when you tighten so I figured I might as well open it up and see what I broke.

I removed the solenoid cover and this is what I see.

NO PLUNGER OR CONTACTS!

I've totally lost respect for Bosch!

You would have thought that they would have picked up on this during bench testing...

^^^Did you buy it from a parts store? It's possible someone took it back after removing the guts and said they didn't need it. I'd try to get that thing warrantied.

I guess I'm just too innocent, I'd never have thought of returning something after stripping parts off it.

Re: Post random stuff from cellphone cameras: Part II

I design product for an aftermarket automotive wire harness manufacturer and one of the big chain auto parts store sends us returns all the time that are like this. People will install our harness, put their factory harness they took out into our box, and return it and get a full refund. Dirty nasty and hacked to bits, obviously not a brand new harness. Last year we got a return on a complete chassis harness, opened the box, and there was a 4' piece of 3 wire rolled romex in it. Seriously, all they have to to was open the box when the customer returned it.

It's just because of careless people that work there. It doesn't affect them if you get the right part or not. It's a shitty way to think. I work in a parts store and I always open the boxes and look before sellin a part. Also the same for returns. Went to sell a customer a set of bearings and races recently, only races in the box.

Re: Post random stuff from cellphone cameras: Part II

the house had a poorly done addition on it when we bought it, we prettied it up a little but always knew we would be taking it down for a new room (let all the family kids go wild with the poster paint). popping it out from 13x44 to 21x44, and adding a full 18x44 basement under it.

started demo today.

they plan to dig for the foundation friday... I have my doubts!

He was the friendliest, nicest dog I've ever met. Came right up to me when I called him. Jumped up and down and licked my hand like he knew me and missed me. All the shelters I called to come pick him up were closed, so I loaded him into my truck and brought him to my parents'. Luckily my mom volunteers at one of the local shelters, so we took him there. Even though they were closed, one of the animal control officers she knows was still there. Thankfully Socrates (that's his name) had a microchip, and they were able to contact his owner. She was at work and didn't even realize he was loose. They called her daughter, who said he runs away all the time, and didn't really seem to care. It's a shame. People like that shouldn't keep getting chances if they don't care about their pet. Plus I really wanted to keep him.

Sorry for the novel.
Great story...So true, some pet owners don't deserve pet's.

Tig welded up a bike fender to delete the rear brake light. the fender paint looks like a gobstopper candy

Cant tell there was a big square cut out.

February 5th we changed out the 2 piece gear for the front diff axle disconnect, went to the creek with my gopro watching the idler arm for some stock worn idler arm video to compare to the 1 ton upgrade....he goes up this very small hill in the sand and...

the gear exploded and took out a few things....LUCKILY i had a spare front axle with the parts....we put a Dorman part in for the gear...rest was stock. Crazy because the dorman gear fit tight against the shaft, a bit too tight.....not sure if it was a bad gear or what, but we sure are leaning towards that since he barely gave it gas, not enough to spin tires in the sand!

^ I remember those vinyl story disks from disney lol, no idea what happened to those.

We used to take the little army figures and use them to play the records.

Re: Post random stuff from cellphone cameras: Part II

That headboard is real nice jake. bulbs are pretty cool. havent seen any of those before.

Modem crapped out on me....well the power supply did. notorious for the little transformer to overheat and burn up.

5.1V @ 2 A is the rating...5.1V DC unplugged then drops to 4.1V when you plug it in the modem...so my answer.....

a 430W computer power supply, 20X the amperage that it can handle on the 5V rail than the previous little plug in for it. Temporary for now though until i find a better modem....

Hemisphere & 2 copies of Moving Pictures. Haven't inspected the quality yet though. I probably have more, I just haven't recognized them via the album cover yet. I'm hoping to inventory all the new records in the coming months. Those 3 stood out though, since they were in the "good stuff" bin.

Re: Post random stuff from cellphone cameras: Part II

Got started this weekend on fixing our shed. PO did absolutely no maintenance on anything, the shed is evidence of that. Had to powerwash the mold off, peel the face of the shed off, then reframe the door, re-sheath it, and hang doors. And since we are surrounded by working farms, I wanted it barn-red.

Still need to build the second door, remove the multiple (3 or 4) layers of rotted flooring, rebuild the ramp, organize the inside, and finish painting.
