ZRPoo - 1998 BlaZR2

So I've come full force back into S-Series.

Bought something for a friend of mine and ended up making more sense for him to continue looking for a Pickup ZR2 while I enjoyed the crap out of one of the most unusual S-Series trucks I've ever seen.

A 309,000 mile (IMPERIAL!!) 1998 Smokey Caramel FIVE SPEED ZR2 BLAZER.....

.....Probably on it's 6th fuel pump at this point but who's counting. (I actually have fantastic documentation on this from 100k to about 250k...)

And it's from New Mexico! No RUST! Very Sunbaked! lol (And here I am driving it in the snow...but alas..it's a 300K ZR2. Who cares. lol. It'll last me years with my care.)

The interior is far from perfect but very nice.

Some Good Old Trailblazer (Lund) Catch-Alls to keep the carpet nice that I just happened to have...

I just love it.

I've had wayyy to many of these trucks. (Currently...on number 7)

Re: ZRPoo - 1998 BlaZR2

2nicorn - perfect!

So yeah. My plans are just making it super nice again. It has what I think are the OG rear bilsteins, needs shackles to level it back out, oil cooler delete, flares need a nice spray bomb session, it could use a dash and a headliner and a general good cleaning. Oh and an s10 with a 300k steering box is hilarious to drive. It's almost cartoonish. I'm making sound worse then it is. It's really a NICE truck. Holds great oil pressure, has no rust, had a professionally installed new engine in 2005 (Engine really only has like 140k) I only paid $2100 for it too.

I threw new control arms and tie rods on it shortly after I bought it. It badly needed control arms. The bushings were basically air.

Does the rear suspension feel squishy in the ZR2 Blazers? I know it is in all the other SUV's.

Yeah. Feels like the Z85 rear springs I had in both my 4Doors. Itís the shocks that make the difference. I think these trucks ride overall best with Bilstiens, but softest with the decarbons. Still doesnít get rid of the lack of load handling capability though.

I have Z85 RPO springs in the Colorado too and it feels like an old Buick in the back. Idk in what world GM decided these were increased capacity springs. Lol

Really. My truck was a Z85 truck and it rode like a dump truck even with crap shocks. I wonder if an AAL would do well on that Blazer.

The 99 4wd SCLB I just bought had the Z85 and OEM cheap shocks. Dump truck is exactly what it felt like. Would rattle your teeth on potholes. Shocks helped, but I'm considering softer springs. It'll never see a 500# payload. Got the K2500 for heavy stuff.

Idk. The s15 had 1500lb payload rear springs. Now that was a lumber truck. Lol

This thing is fantastic.

Need to order rear shocks and put my lift shackles in when its warm, as well as delete the oil cooler lines.

It's just bad ***.

Now inching towards 312,000 miles.

I did delete the oil cooler lines and threw a billet distributor, plugs and wires at it because 4.3, but otherwise have not touched a thing. lol.

Lifted the back 2", new shocks, steering box, ball joints, idler/pitman, my Polished ZR5s from the 85 Blazer, and awesome clear tinted tails...

As well as painted bumpers and flares.

As if I couldn't love the truck anymore.
