It would work with stock rotors so you would still need your adapters.

Gotcha. Any chance you have a spare set of C6 calipers?

I'm not a fan of the way the Colorado/Canyons and TBs/Envoys look. Not sure why. They're not ugly or anything, but I'm a fan of the look of the S-Series. Too many angles I guess? Body lines are too busy? I'm not really sure. They look overdone to me.

BUT, with those modifications, I could totally deal with them though!

Haha gotcha man I see where you're coming from on the angles and bodylines... the Colorado's don't really tickle my fancy so much, but the more rounded style of the TB looks good to me

We're supposed to get our first snowfall tonight, so I might throw the 18s on the TB even though the brakes aren't done yet. The tires on the 20s are pretty bald and were kinda scary driving through a downpour on the way to work today

Re: [ProjecT] How Long Til The Wife Notices...?

I decided putting the 18s on was the best idea for the incoming snow, so after I looped the heater core hoses on the Sonoma I swapped the wheels onto the TB while I did an oil change last night. The new tires are pretty nice, seem very grippy and good in the snow

I'll try and grab a pic of it now that it's on them. Wheel gap is a little bigger but she sits a lil lower too. Can't wait to get the SS front springs on as well as the rear on air to level it out

Nice!

Everything I've learned about TBs lately lends me to say that the 06+ TBs are quite a bit better than the '02-05s, so the '07 should be a great truck for you

Ok you can't just leave it at that... what makes the 06+ TBs better? I assume it is akin to the difference from the 94-97 S10s to the 98+.

Re: [ProjecT] How Long Til The Wife Notices...?

And as far as my TB goes, no real progress in the past 2 months, it's just been serving as a winter daily. Glad I have 4wd tho, as we've had 45" of snowfall here in the past 2 months (all the ppl who live in IN where I used to live hate us lol because they've gotten basically no snow all season). Once winter ends it will need a thorough cleaning, and that is probably when I will finish the brakes and also get the on-board air installed along with the rear air ride and the drop coils (and also get an alignment done. Might need to do balljoints and control arm bushings too... not sure just yet, but I do know it likes to walk within a lane, so the alignment is a necessity at a minimum).

SS 20s are up for sale and will hopefully be going on my buddy's bagged Colorado that is currently in my garage to convert the reverse 4link to a 6link. Most progress for that will likely be posted in the Work Truck thread

Exactly. Much better electronics and things along those lines in the '06up trucks. Although they still really didn't compete with the '06up Explorers as far as performance and safety features (other than the SS having a big powerful motor)

Gotcha, and yeah that makes sense.

BTW I love what you are doing with your Trailblazer, I have been contemplating getting one, but I just don't know yet. I need something new in the near future and my options at this point are pretty much wide open. Basically anything that can seat 4+ people and gets better than 15 mpg is a viable option.

Thanks man! They are great trucks, but they skirt the 15mpg number with the I6 so just be forewarned

Re: [ProjecT] How Long Til The Wife Notices...?

06+ also have a slightly hotter version of the I6 with 291HP and 277TQ, Mine has 48.5k on the clock which is great for an 07. It also has the body side moldings and rockers color matched (but not the door handles) from the factory. I have had some bad weather I have driven through and an old air filter so mileage has not been the greatest, filter was changed today and I have a trip this weekend to see how much better mileage it gets. Keeping it on A4wd instead of 2 hi will cause loss of mileage too.

Re: [ProjecT] How Long Til The Wife Notices...?

TrailBlazer is going to hit 100k miles next week Winter has also been pretty hard on it so I plan to put the Sonoma back to being slammed ASAP and start dailying that so I can get this thing in the garage and get it cleaned up like it deserves. Also, never sold the SS wheels so I think they'll be going back on when I put the new brakes and drop parts on it Still want to sell them and get 22" replicas but that may have to wait a bit

Sweet! The SS wheels look so good on the trailblazer.

So how long did you actually have the Sonoma lifted? I swear it seems like you had just finished lifting it.

Re: [ProjecT] How Long Til The Wife Notices...?

I did basically just finish lifting it lol. Unfortunately with the Swampers it is nearly undriveable The lugs are so big I can only turn about a half turn of the steering wheel in either direction before they hit the fenders, and it rode like a bulldozer driving on them If anything I'll try some different Swampers next winter and also do a body lift, but right now I just miss it being slammed and want to be able to easily load my dirtbike in it

Saw a standard TB in a parking lot today with SS rims and seats, reminded me of this ride. I think you need the SS front end though.

Fine, let me clarify... I'll have a full exterior clone

My truck did come with white face gauges tho so it's a lot closer to the SS cluster than a stock TB LS. But as far as interior is concerned I think at some point I'm gonna swap in a full Envoy interior because I like the design of those better

I do like the looks of the Envoy dash over the TB more refined. But I do like that the TB console has an extra cup holder right where I keep my phone.

I haven't been in enough Envoy's to notice those little things. But I'll take your word for it and may try to just keep my TB console then

Re: [ProjecT] How Long Til The Wife Notices...?

It was one of those things I noticed while looking for the one I bought. I think the TB dash would look better tu-toned with factory pieces, light and dark contrast which the Envoy seems to have more of in their dash.

Well my boss has an Envoy, which I think has a ton nicer interior look dash-wise then then TBs, so idk, just thinking future project...TB SS with an envoy interior....yeah!

I can't own s-series trucks forever, plus the Trailvoys ride much nicer imo. Idk about handling though, but hey, the s-series doesn't handle nice stock either, so with some modifications I assume I can get a TB to handle well.

I've had wayyy to many of these trucks. (Currently...on number 7)

Re: [ProjecT] How Long Til The Wife Notices...?

Only reason I'm debating selling it is because it's an 05 and the 06up trucks are a lot better. I would get another one at some point but I'm looking to consolidate a bit right now and thinking of selling this and my wife's Explorer and getting a newer/nicer truck with a warranty. Either an 06up TB or an 08up Explorer

Yeah, we got an '07 Explorer with 3rd row and leather (and a V8 ) but with 92k miles and now it has 96k and we paid over 4x what you did for that Tahoe I'm wanting to trade that in or sell it because it doesn't have a warranty, but to get what I want I'd either have to take out a bigger loan, or sell the TB also. We'll see what I can pull off lol

So I lowered the rear of the TB the other day...

Just kidding. I had the Sonoma on a car trailer behind it and it made it squat HARD. Definitely was riding 100% on the bump stops lol

Re: [ProjecT] How Long Til The Wife Notices...?

Also, the big brake kit is potentially for sale if I can get the right price. It consists of 14" CTS-V drilled/slotted rotors that are water jetted to have the correct hub bore and bolt pattern, brand new 2011+ HD Silverado/Sierra Akebono rear brake calipers (with hoses & brake pads) modified to work on a GMT360 with the 14" rotors, stock drilled/slotted TrailBlazer rear rotors (12.8"), & rear Hawk HPS pads

PM me with an offer and we can go from there

Re: [ProjecT] How Long Til The Wife Notices...?

Well, unfortunately I had a bit of a mishap with this thing yesterday After pulling an all-nighter to get back to IN and head straight to work after that, I was nodding off a bit as I neared work and the combo of that plus some guy that decided to slam on his brakes for 'construction workers' that he saw (that I'm pretty sure were non-existent) caused me to rear end him and mess up the front end He was in a '99-06 style fullsize Chevy with a hitch and fortunately my bumper went right under his hitch so there's no frame damage, but unfortunately that means the body took all the impact and a lot of stuff got messed up

The bumper cover is toast, both headlight mounts are broke, the grille was smashed, and the hood doesn't latch any more (and might be bent but I'm hoping it's not). Then the pass fender got pushed out and back so it hits the drivers door when you open the door. Both the radiator and AC condenser are still good tho so that's a huge plus. I'm thinking it just needs the core support bar plus headlights/grille/L fender/bumper cover and it should be good to go. This actually doesn't upset me at all because I have been wanting to do an SS front end for a LONG time and this looks like the perfect opportunity to do so, especially since I already have an SS grille

The only problem is that I called my insurance to report the accident and they told me there was a 'temporary hold' or something on my policy because apparently I missed a payment?? So they're saying I would have no coverage for the accident So yesterday I caught up the bill and my coverage is now reinstated but I'm going to have to finagle the date of when I say it happened because if I tell them the actual date it will fall in that period of time when they say I did not have coverage. I think I should be able to get away with it though, because we didn't call the cops so there is nothing to prove when it actually happened. I may have to contact the truck owner tho (who's truck had no damage other than scuffs on his bumper) and have him say it happened a few days later than it really did so that it will jive with my story and insurance will cover it all.

I was wanting to do the whole truck in Flat White Plasti-Dip anyway so I think in order to avoid actually having to fork out $500 for my deductible (and also being able to maybe pocket some money) I will forego having it painted and just buy the Plasti-Dip myself and spray it at home. Although the whole reason I was always hoping to get in some sort of accident that messed up all those exact parts is because at some point the L fender had been repainted and whatever hack bodyshop did it didn't remove the trim on the drivers door when they painted it, so when I removed the trim to give it the SS look there was the shape of the trim left behind in the original silver color that did not match the new silver that they blended in. So if I have it painted the whole truck could actually have a quality paint job and look really nice.... Although I'm not sure that I'd have enough money from insurance to buy the SS bumper and still have it all painted. Because I've always wanted a new drivers rear door since for some reason it's the only part of the truck that is rusting out terribly at the bottom... I think it was replaced with an older door, possibly in conjunction with the L fender/repaint.

If I can pull it all off I'd like to get all the parts and plasti-dip plus maybe have enough left over that if I sell my SS 20s I can buy some replica 22s for it!!

Oh... and one last thing about the accident: Since the truck was still loaded completely full of stuff that I was moving from MI to IN a bunch of stuff flew forward when I nailed the brakes (and the guy lol) and it hit the dash, messing up the trim panel around the radio and a spot of the actual dash too. The thing that got the worst of that impact was the stock radio, which lost both the volume/power button and the sound/select button. The radio always had some issues tho because the rear speakers would cut in and out, so it was really time for a new one anyway. Hopefully that will bump up the damage amount and help get more funds for body parts and 22s I'd like to get the rear SS bumper too to fully round out the package if I can!

I'll get pics up when I get a chance, right now I'm just hoping it will work out for insurance to cover it all

Brent, In all honesty, I don't "need" them. The stars may align right in the next few months for me to purchase them but right now I need to conserve the cash I have until I have until I have a job after graduation and am paying off my loans. Then, customizing the TB can happen.
