I bought another. 85' 4wd 2 Door

Woops....

1985 S10 Blazer Tahoe 4WD 2Dr

Super clean Washington Truck.

Found it 40 minutes away.

Paid $1300

Needs new lifters and top end gaskets. Tons of other little shit.

Carb'd 2.8 (New learning experience for me)

Front end is good, tires are new Bridgestone Dueler REVO2 ATs

What more can I ask for? (bunch of shitty pictures, sorry)

Oh, and 77k miles....(real!!!!)

Oh, and it likes me...because after being driven 40 miles it made it all the way home and did this in the driveway. (Just needed to cut back the line for now and reclamp it.)

I've had wayyy to many of these trucks. (Currently...on number 7)

Not bad for $1300. I can't remember that last time i saw a 1st generation around here that wasn't all rusted out or in a junk yard.

Q: How many people can you fit in one Honda?
A: Well, the Bible said that all 12 disciples were in one Accord.

Re: I bought another. 85' 4wd 2 Door

Thanks everyone!

More pictures.

A little photo op..

You can really see that the clear is gone in this picture.

The seats are VERY nice for being 30 years old...

The Bluapunkt has now seen 3 blazers. I wanted a stereo (It had none) and actually with the chrome its somewhat fitting. It looks to me that at one point this blazer was broken into and the stereo stolen after what all I had to fix...but its all good now.

Got the interior lights to work.....so the guy who had this before owned it for about 3 or 4 years and said he bought it with no lights....all that was wrong is that the rear cargo area light was switched to always on instead of with doors.

The carpet is overall ok..

This is a good sign. It's not an utter mess inside the valve covers atleast.

Got new lifters, upper gaskets, and some other goodies coming.

I've had wayyy to many of these trucks. (Currently...on number 7)

Re: I bought another. 85' 4wd 2 Door

The door and rear quarter don't look like they're in different colors. In the Craigslist ad it looked like they were two different colors. That's why I thought it had been in a wreck.

Re: I bought another. 85' 4wd 2 Door

Tyler,

Sitting at my house I have an Audiovox SPSS tape deck head which is sadly missing a button on the tape controls but has a very stock look and is very period correct for this. I imagine that the missing button won't be too hard to find. I'll bring it tomorrow, its DIN 1.5 and is made to look stock in GM cars.

Thank you for giving that to me Stew! I will use it once I get a mount!!

And svmcgover this is a cruiser/restoration.

I plan to own it for a very long time and eventually 3.4 swap it.

I have always wanted one.....and this is almost a once in a lifetime chance for someone my age to have one this nice so I had to have it...lol. It will be garaged in the winter.

Good find!

It's really cool to see the older dash and door panels (and everything else) in such good condition!

It looks like the front bumper was changed to a newer one with the bigger impact strip...

1300 = BARGAIN Dood!!

That paint could be scuffed, a dust coat of color and some fresh clear would make it look MINT!!

Nice move not driving it in the nasty winter salt. That rig will live as long as you want it.

Because I had a box of the incadesents.

And the lifters and lower gasket set are in. Now I just need my Haynes manual that I ordered.

The lower gasket set I got is almost as vintage as the truck....RockAuto wholesaler closeout . Lol

Re: I bought another. 85' 4wd 2 Door

boy that stereo sticks the heck out.

a couple tips from an old installer:

you can cut the heater duct behind the radio and use the piece you cut out to recess into the duct a little, giving you more room to flush the radio so you dont bang your knuckles on it shifting. It only affects defrosting and just barely, I use aluminum duct tape to seal it all up again.

the rear 6x9s, dont buy super deep 3 ways or speakers with big magnets, they just wont fit. They have to be super shallow, and even then the tweeters will still bend the grilles a little. If you want more bass, add a sub and forget about the rear speakers unless they are just blown.

running amp wires past that folding rear seat is a real chore, my buddy actually was struggling with one and had his butt against the opposite side glass and boop! popped the window out on the ground. we laughed and laughed.

this blazer is super great though, I am super jealous.

Would using a heat gun and reshaping the duct do the same thing?

What number are the dash lights? If they are 194 I think 921 is the 5 watt replacement vs the 2-2.5 watt for the 194.

Haha, I will eventually put in that stock looking Audiovox stereo I pictured earlier.

It already actually has a nice set of pioneers in the back.

that looks really, really good. you need a cover for your seat hinge. Also, I think that was my least favorite steering wheel

I have heard of guys using heat guns and pushing the new deck into the warm and melty plastic but I like my method better, leaves room for wiring.

man this thing is cool, I need to ask my brother for a picture of his 86 blazer, I think it may have been the same color...

Re: I bought another. 85' 4wd 2 Door

That thing is begging for a wood steering wheel with a black center or an all black wheel!

Were the dash pieces painted black by you or a previous owner... i dont remember them coming in black... they were usually silver (faux brushed aluminum) like the lower rectangles on the door panels.

I agree. I've used the heat gun and push method... altho i used a block of wood to push rather than the deck itself. It takes forever!

I've cut part of the duck and reshaped using tape and aluminum flashing to make a recess and it worked much better.

The dash was painted. I thought maybe it was part of the Tahoe Package being black and all.

Those lower door panel pieces are actually aluminum.
