I like working with plastic more than I do fiberglas.
Maybe buy a plastic welder and some sheets of plastic.
you can get creative and use a heat gun or oven and make shapes.

Looks better than the ugly box, but you lose that storage space. I left mine open for smokes, tokes, my P11, whatever.

It holds a Samsung S9+ just right, and the top sticks out so you can glance at it and see the preview notification.

Crazy i stumbled on this thread.. had to sign up to share, I am actually right in the middle of cad drawing up a replacement for my cd holder to be 3d printed. Making a cubby just like you were saying.
I'm also replacing the coin holder slot with a panel where im wiring in usb charging outlets, as well as another set of outlets on the little pop out panel on the back of the center console for the back seats.
Just finished my custom switch panel to replace the factory flip down ash tray and cigarette lighter.

Any chanse you will part with the blueprint when you are done? As someone with absolutely zero knowledge in CAD or 3d printing, but have friends with printers, it woule be very appreciated.

Switch panel or the cd holder delete cubby? Either way I'd be happy to, I run a 3D printing and design company. More colors than the rainbow. Shoot me a pm when you get a sec.

Re: any snap in parts to replace the old cd case holders?

Definitely don't miss that console now that I got 60/40 seats lol. My old sonoma had the CD box and I made a plate out of plexiglass. I had the cheesy silver skin kit that went on the dash bezel, power window/lock switch panels and the passenger vent so I had a GMC sticker made backwards to stick on the inside center of the plexi and painted the inside silver. I also had USB charge port and RCA aux. mounted on that plate hooked up to a double din. My friends at the time laughed at me when they saw me playing super mario bros. on a NES in my truck..

I think I have a thread about that somewhere.
I bought a wireless charging pad,I think it was a 10w.
used a cigar lighter adapter and about a 6 inch USB micro to USB 90* power cord.
The charging pad changes colors when its charged.
I wired it into the accessory power so it wont run the battery down.
I like having a dock for the phone so it wont be sliding around, and having it charged up too.
