How do I know if my truck is a ZR2?

I bought it 2nd hand. The original owner completely customized his factory options at purchase and it has no stickers or anything advertising the version. I know it is a push button 4x4 with a huge skid plate in the front.

What are the tell-tale signs of an S-10 being ZR2?

Re: How do I know if my truck is a ZR2?

It would have a "ZR2" RPO code. RPO code listings are usually found in the glove box on these trucks I believe (at least that's where mine is). Other common spots would be in the center console or the edge of the driver's side door.

Fender flares, 2'' body lift, bilstein shocks, 31x10.5x15's. I have a zr2, and my brother has a 4wd dime, skidplates were optional on 4wd without zr2 package.

Re: How do I know if my truck is a ZR2?

My non-ZR2 also came with Bilsteins from the factory. The sticker on the door should also say the tire size is a 31" tire as mentioned above.

I though that ZR2's got a 3" suspension lift, not a 2" body lift. They front and rear track widths are also 4" wider than a non-ZR2. Fender flares could be added after the fact.

The only way for you to tell if you can't tell the frames apart (I'm assuming you don't know the differences) is to check the RPO codes for the ZR2 code, or to check the door tire tag for what size tires the truck came with.

Most 4x4 trucks came with a 235/70R15, and I believe 235/75R15 was also an option. The ZR2's came with a 31" tire that would probably be designated "31x9.5-15" or something along those lines.

Re: How do I know if my truck is a ZR2?

ZR2's do not have a 2" BL. The suspension itself is 2" higher (well, the mounting points are 2" lower, which lifts the truck 2"). The tires are 2" taller, which nets another 1" in height, for a total of 3" over stock.

The ZR2's came with 31x10.5/15's.

Post a picture. I'll tell you for sure if it is or not

Wow, that's some good information on Wiki there.

ZR2 fender flares wont fit on a non ZR2 without major moding. There is a lip welded around the wheel well for the flare to mount to and also bolt holes going through the body. Take one off and you'll know what i mean. Plus they are expensive as all hell to replace. ( i smashed one)

No, turns out it is not a Zr2, it's just the 4x4.

That doesn't mean I can't have some fun with it though

Edit: I am going to look into some off-road style tires for it and maybe a suspension lift later on.

The Zr2 is neither a body or suspension lift. There are differnent suspension mounting points on the zr2 that are different than the reg 4wd (which increases the width and height). The Zr2 also has a wider rear axle.
