Re: Post your rig setup

If you are refering to the voltages on the GPU, they are fixed. Thats not something that can be changed without doing a pencil mod. If you mean the CPU, thats fixed as well. By default, it is offset. I found I got lower temps at full load with fixed. You are right about my 3d work using more than average. While rendering, I use 13Gb. lol

Re: Post your rig setup

Yea ive heard that 3d stuff burns up a lot of ram thats cool though. I was talking about the cpu because i have it on offset. For my board it was more stable using offset mode so the cpu downclocks to 1.6ghz at idle. That Hyper 212 seems to perform really well for the price especially w/ the push and pull setup that you got.

Are you modding out that case? It looks like you added a bunch of plexi..

Yeah. The side window and top window are added in. I also added a side 120mm and a top 120mm fan. The 140mm in top was already there, I just moved it back a bit when putting in the window. On yours, have you tried fixed and disabling the CPU throttling? There are a few (4-5 I think) that effect or contribute throttling and stability in fixed mode.

Re: Post your rig setup

The cpu isn't throttling since its no where near 95c but i like it also because my idle temps are lower and the voltage drops to 1.000-1.008v. Im usually around 28c-30c at idle as compared to when i clocked it in fixed and running at 4.5 the idle temp would be higher. Now as soon as i start up a game or do something cpu intensive it will increase from 1.6ghz to 4.5ghz.

It looked like you were modding it out, thats cool that you were able to fit more fans and be able to see into the case.

Re: Post your rig setup

that makes sense. Main reason I set mine up as I did was my PC rarely is at idle with all the stuff I do for [email protected] Even my GPU's get used for it. so I wouldnt see a difference. The program shuts down as soon as I go to render or play a game, so I see no impact from that. The case modding was easy. All you need is a dremel, cutoff wheels, correct size hole saws, plexi, and 3M mounting tape and some ingenuity.

Re: Post your rig setup

Well its all preference but since your folding constantly then it really doesnt matter. Some people run it fixed and some run them offset, its what ever you want.

Looks good w/ the plexi and the big window looks sweet so you can show off everything inside

BTW i see your renderings you posted...those look great

Thanks. There are a few other things I want to do to this case, but that will happen in due time. The renderings are coming along kinda slow, but thank you.

Warning!! Super long post!

Sorry for the super large pics too.

Here is a Antec Skeleton I refreshed after Christmas:

AMD Athlon II x2 245 OC'ed to 3.3
ECS black edition mobo
Corsair H50 watercooler
4gb ram

Diamond HD 6770 1gb

Nmediapc blue LCD front panel system stats reader

This is my first case I built in....but I rewired the whole thing with red LED's and remotely controlled lighting system. I salvaged the receiver and transmitter from an old set of fog lights.

Re: Post your rig setup

Upgraded my old i7 to a 2600k and new motherboard:

i7 2600k @ 4.3ghz 1.280v, 16GB DDR3, 256GB Corsair Performance Pro SSD, 2TB Caviar Green, 1TB Samsung F3, GTX 580 Lightning, Antec 750w PSU, 650D case, and H100 AIO.

My secondary computer that was replaced a couple months ago:

Athlon II X3 440/AMD 6850 setup- relatively plain.

The new secondary, built from leftover parts from upgrades and some other stuff I had sitting around that I had forgotten about. Selling it now to cover some unexpected vet bills:

Intel i7 860, 4GB DDR3, EVGA P55 SLI, 1TB F1, CM 690 II ADV case, etc.

Not sure if I will build another secondary, but I do have my eye on a case I like, so who knows

Looks good- 570 SLI is a pretty strong setup. Overclocking these newer i7s is pretty easy. I would almost bet you could get to 4.0ghz @ stock voltage by just upping the multiplier to 40x.

Thanks , I really like how it turned out.

I think total for the parts is about $750 retail + the Win7 Lic cost. I'd be alright with getting ~$650 or so to pay for part of my next build. I sold a similar computer albeit with a much weaker GPU and cheaper case for $550 last month, so I think the price is fair for my area. The longer it sits in my desk the more tempted I am to keep it, but it really is a little too much computer for what I need right now.

Re: Post your rig setup

Mine is probably the most basic computer here. Recently built a mini with microATX MB- biostar, 4GB DDR3 RAM - GSKILL, 400GB Western Digital HD, Lite On disk reader/writer (not blu ray though) and the cpu is Athlon 2. I think its 3.6 ghz. ITs currently running on the MB's built-in graphics but I have a card as well as a 1TB HD. Recently installed a built-in card reader. Aside from that I had to get a keyboard and mouse. Went through monoprice.com for those items. Total build with keyboard and mouse as well as 4 3ft usb extenders and a 15ft premium audio cable $300. Im quite happy with it. Its replacing my inspiron 9300 laptop that crapped out on me. That was an old pos laptop but it worked good while I had it. I got sick of that old laptop having no parts that could be upgraded (it was top of the line in its day $1600 laptop) I dont really push computers much at all so a basic one is plenty. A friend of mine has 3 over the top builds - i'll try to get pics/stats of them. They vary from $4500 water cooled down to about $2500. He also just built a mini server - 20 3TB HDs. I went to him one day and asked how cheap I could build a decent desktop and the parts order was placed that night. This is my 1st computer build and my 1st desktop. I built it myself in under an hour w/o issue and w/o any directions, working blind sorta. The case's front plate had a busted wire so the company sent me a replacement, turns out that wire is unused in my build so I may just airbrush the new plate for the hell of it.

Case was on sale $17 shipped http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811147123
Actually EVERY part of it was on sale and this was like a month ago.

After having built this Im extremely happy I didnt buy from walmart like i was going to. For the same price I would have some pos 32 bit system with a 1.6ghz dual core processor.... and all other stats matching or less than mine. Plus mine is New, not refurbished. I got a case I like rather than being stuck with whatever walmart offers. Mine is all decent brands too. The quality and features are far better than the premade trash in this price range. Im very happy with my computer. Quick question, how much ram would photoshop need?

Re: Post your rig setup

little update on my setup... the internal card reader died so I need to replace it (any suggestions? just has to be windows 7 compatible and capable of reading sd, sdhc, micro sd, and micro sdhc cards but it would be nice if it also had usb port(s) on it as well) and my old 22" lcd monitor died too so I replaced it with a new 39" Insignia LED tv. Since this is my tv, computer, and video game console all in one the screen upgrade is very nice

Thats exactly what I had. Complete pile of shit - kept making that "device disconnect" noise... sometimes 1-2 times a day, sometime 8 times in 3 minutes. Pissed me off so now it has a new home in the trash.

Haha, ok. I haven't used that one but it looked ok. I have used an HP take off similar to that though back in the day. I took it out because I hated having all the drive letters.....just bugged me to no end.

Re: Post your rig setup

Did some parts changes to my rig. Just a few small mods.

Sold the;
AMD Phenom II 3.3ghz x6
Antec Kuhler H2O 920 water cooling unit (got an RMA, sold the RMA)

Selling;
Radeon HIS IceQ 6950 2GB

Installed;
AMD FX-8350 4.0ghz x8)
Larkooler 330 Water Cooling Kit

Ordered;
2x Radeon Gigabyte R9 280X's

Currently I have it OverClocked to 4.6ghz per core, under stress test it sees roughly 50c which isn't bad at all.

I also picked up a new toy.

HP ProLiant GL380 G5p Dual Opteron 2.6ghz x6 core with 16gig ram and 8 146.4 SAS 10k drives with a dual 750w hot swappable power supply setup.

Picture was at my old house (just moved), sorry about the leopard print sheet, it was keeping the cold ass air off the electrical box from freezing my ass off at night.

^ before I swapped the processors, but shortly after I banked all the hdd bay's with sas drives. The HDD's are in 2x Raid 5 configuration.

I'll get everything all finished being setup in the new house, then I leave for Afghan in March. So it'll be waiting for my return for some gaming! The server is hosting a few VM's.

Minecraft (2x VM's currently running)
BF4 (VM setup, but I haven't looked into this yet to see if I can host it)
MW4 (same situation as VM above)

Re: Post your rig setup

The Larkooler 330, not to bad! It works pretty good. There's different configurations you can do for the radiator. My only gripe, is that it was missing the following screws.

Fan Grills > Fans
Fans > Radiator

I had 8 case fan screws laying around. Not a biggie there, but the other 8 I had to get from Lowes (home depot will not have them). They are really hard to find screws. But, for 1.18 I had the screws I needed to finish the install.

The pump is manually controllable (the speed). The CPU waterblock is designed like the expensive ass ones. The best part is that you can upgrade any of the components, add in video card water blocks if you'd like, etc.

Overall, for $130 from FrozenCPU.com it's not a bad buy.

EDIT: Thanks, the server is from a guy here in St Peters, MO. He get's them from the Military as they upgrade their hardware. I got it minus the drives, and with dual quad core 2.4's. So it's nice that I was able to upgrade that. I'd like to bank it with 24 or 36 gig's of ram though.

Re: Post your rig setup

Wow, sweeet setup. I wanna grab one of those AMD 8350's for my next upgrade. Those 280's should be awesome.

That server is pretty sweet. I have access to a bunch of servers at work but I can't really justify it in my house. You gonna use that one for just VM's?

Yeah, that's pretty much all it's for. Not enough space for file storage. I've got two 2T WD Green drives in my Gamer on a Raid 1 config for storage. The server has maybe a total of 1T between both Raid 5 configurations.

New PB, hitting only 55c for a split second, hovering at 54c under constant load.

4795.09 x8
Settings;
218fsb
22x
1.48750v core

Found someone elses settings online. Gave them a shot, and their numbers turned out pretty solid.
