how would you need new wires?
if you used like an SCR latch and a little relay you could run the bigger relay with the original nintendo wires
or maybe im not thinking far enough into it?

not thinking far enough into it.. the wires on the nintendo controller are serial data, clock, latch and 5v and gnd only.. to access the button commands you have to do what i'm doing which is using a shift register to convert the serial data back to parallel like they do IN the controller... reverse engineering man

Did you use the stock communication protocol? or just rewire the switches?

Re: Nintendo Controller to Air Ride Switchbox???

it is the stock controller only a few small mods had to be done but other then that its stock. Only thing that had to really change was the power output..

Re: Nintendo Controller to Air Ride Switchbox???

it also had to have a brain box designed by us here that the controller plugs into its about the size of a motorcycle battery...

Re: Nintendo Controller to Air Ride Switchbox???

Does your brain box, decode the controller? or are you just relaying the low current buttons to the valves directly?

Like Mike had talked about earlier, if anyone is interested in its serial protocol,

http://www.mit.edu/~tarvizo/nes-controller.html

It is an interesting system.

Re: Nintendo Controller to Air Ride Switchbox???

I figured it out, had it all simulated etc, just never did it.. No time nor interest really. It was just one of those things that i wanted to see if i could do. I'm sure i can dig up the simulation files somewhere on an old hdd or something. And you're right, you needed to change the power due to it being a 5V system and you having a 12-16v input basically

Re: Nintendo Controller to Air Ride Switchbox???

Well the guy i had figure everything out for me was a 50 year old baptist minister/ham radio operater. If I try to turn my morning alarm off it blows up in my face, so in short if i would of built this controller it would never work on anything again but now it works on my truck so im cool with who ever builds it.......

That's awesome! I would totally still be interested in this, but I took the air ride off of my truck.

Re: Nintendo Controller to Air Ride Switchbox???

So I now have the code and can make this work but...

COSTS:
$40 BS2 IC
$15 BS2 breadboard
$10 8X 5V relays
$10 NES controller reman.
$06 project enclosure
$05 5V automotive power supply.
$07 Terminal strips and grommets.
------------
$93 Total with 0 Labor.

So for me to make any profit and cover my end I would have to sell a unit for $120

I doubt anyone would even think of paying that.

So for now I may build one with the parts I have.... just to say that I did

EDIT: I think this would go well with my Air Ride sofa haha
