Ive just got a regular ole flip down fibre-metal with a green lens. works great for welding pipe, either tig or stick.

Might not be the coolest and it might be overpriced. But it is durable, I have one at home and I use one at work. My hood at work has been used for over 3 years everyday and still has the same head gear, has been dropped and I've melted a few cover plates (filling in very large holes). Worth every penny and I'm a cheap son of bitch.

Here is a quick thing I welded to show a friend how to stack welds. Might help someone out, always start from the bottom up, you will have to adjust your gun angle as you go up, we do a lot of this on heavy plates. Normally anything 1.25" and up gets mutiple passes depending on engineering spec.



I did not let the plate cool so it was glowing when I was done not the most visually appealing.
