Re: [ProjecT] Stock Floor (the bed too!)

Sooooooooooo the '91 got moved out into the driveway on Sat to make room in the garage first for my brother-in-laws mustang and then the Sonoma. It will remain there until the weekend when the shed parts will be getting moved. Then it will come back into the garage, the body will come off, and the frame table will go over top of it. Then the body will be used to build the crew cab and once that is together this will get up on the frame table and it's new body will go on

Re: [ProjecT] Stock Floor (the bed too!)

Mowed the lawn the other day so I took a pic of the house looking nice with all the trucks in the driveway

Unfortunately I have a neighbor or a cop who's got it out for me and the other day I was issued a citation for the '91 sitting in the driveway, saying it was an 'abandoned vehicle with no engine and no plates'. I have til June 12 to move it, but I will be tearing it apart to use the body for the crew cab by then so it would've been getting moved anyway

Well we got lots of rain overnight and this morning. Here's how the subdivision is looking

This is the field across the side street from me. As you can see it flooded which then flooded over the road and then flowed down my street

Re: [ProjecT] Stock Floor (the bed too!)

Ok, so I have officially decided to put my Thorbecke Brothers S10 control arms up for sale. I have been wanting to get another dirtbike since I sold my 00 CR125r back in 2005, but it's not been something that was feasible until recently, and the only way I can afford it at this point in my life is by selling some things that are for more distant projects that I'm not going to be using within the next 6 months or so. Since the arms fall into that category that is why they are going up for sale.

The specs:

Thorbecke Brothers S10 control arms
Raw upper arms with Thorbecke cross shafts and PowerPerformance SuperTravel balljoints
Chrome lower arms with shock tabs (no sway bar mounts) and PowerPerformance balljoints

These arms will lay 22s with STOCK spindles, or 26s with DROP spindles

The arms have only ever been used for mockup on my trucks, have never seen any road time, and the joints have yet to see grease. They are in brand new condition still.

Asking $1000 OBO ($550 for chrome lowers, $450 for raw uppers with ST joints, but I would rather not seperate them)

PM me if interested. I will also be throwing these up in the classifieds

This is the only pic I could find of them for now. I will be posting more after I get a chance to take some

Also for sale are a full set of 15" 2nd gen Swirlie wheels with (2) 205/60-15 and (2) 195/50-15 tires in good shape. Asking $300 OBO for those

Yep, Cedar Lake Police

Not sure how soon I'll be done with the table... I need to build the cab and then finish up the frame for the crew cab before I'll be done with it, but then at that point it should be summer time so I will probably be putting this up on it to start getting it back to where it needs to be.

But you're more than welcome to come by any time and help... I'm always up to throw back a few beers and get some work done, as I have PLENTY to do haha

But as far as your ideas... shoot me a PM so we can talk more about them

Re: [ProjecT] Stock Floor (the bed too!)

Stock 2wd width is 54.5", ZR2s are 63"... So yeah, just a lil bit wider :-)

I'll end up narrowing it about 6-8" per side, which is why it was fine to get a common ZR2 8.5" vs. a hard-to-find 2wd 8.5" (2wd Blazer 8.5" if I wanted the disc brakes)

Not sure if you saw the Work Truck thread or not but this was actually bought at this point in time for the Sonoma, as I'll be using the 3.73 gearset and G80 Eaton locker from it in the 2wd 8.5" that's in the Sonoma (it's currently an open diff with 3.42 ratio which just does not work in winter when it's lifted).

The thing that spurred the purchase was my rear U joint going out, but before I was able to confirm that as the problem myself and several others at work were pretty convinced that it was the pinion bearings having gone out which would mean a full teardown of the rear to replace the bearings, which is why I deemed it the right time to swap gears and carriers

Re: [ProjecT] Stock Floor (the bed too!)

So when you narrow it that much, how do you get the tubes back in the housing since the tubes are expanded where they get press fit in? Can some one re-expand them or do you do it a different way?

I'm not exactly sure how they do it but I think they take the material out of the outer ends of the tubes and then just weld new outer bearing areas/brake mounting flanges on

Re: [ProjecT] Stock Floor (the bed too!)

and depending on how much your narrowing your rear you can do it yourself by shorteing the tubes and getting 2 short side axles out of a 2wd rear found out about that one after i bought my wheels

Re: [ProjecT] Stock Floor (the bed too!)

Thats only for ford 8.8 rearends. Theres no long or short side on s10 rears.. both axles are the same length and interchangeable side to side.

And also ya cant shorten and respline a 2wd s10 axle due to the shape of the end, ya cut thru the hardened outer layer before its the right o.d. to spline. I had my axle shortened 6" and had to get custom axles made to thr price of 300 bucks.

Thanks for responding to that Dave

If you ever need any official GM prints for your axles or axle shafts let me know, since I now work for the manufacturer

No, not on this one. I'm trying to get the crewcab all put together before I get back to working on this one. But don't worry, the project isn't dead
