Check the top of the tube...can't remember which side. It has stampings on it. GM dealer should be able to decipher. Someone here may be able to also.

BTW...welcome.

Re: Help !! What rear end do i have ? I need to order brake parts

The only width dimensions I'm familiar width are wheel mounting surface to WMS.
Those dimensions are:
The 3 original S10 axle widths are:
2wd 54.5"
4wd 59"
ZR2 63"

Since the backing plates are 52.25 I think you can rule out 2wd.
ZR2 is the most common and the 94-97 did have drums.
Not too many regular 4x4's built in those 4 years with the 8.5 except some 4.3 5 speed's.
Most all prior to that were 7.5. I'm sure there were a few exceptions.

Re: Help !! What rear end do i have ? I need to order brake parts

The 5 speed 4x4's were available all years (except real early). It's only the 5 speeds equipped with a 4.3 that got the 8.5 rear and even then it wasn't a sure thing. Usually had to have a towing package or some other indication of possible additional stress. GM was pretty stingy about using the 8.5 and only did it to prevent warranty claims in the heavier duty equipped S10's. Both 2 and 4wd. It was never offered as an available option, so a buyer couldn't order it. Most original buyers didn't know it if they had one. It was when they started showing up in junkyards and guys noticed a few had the 8.5 that this was figured out.
I don't remember seeing any 8.5 in an S10 before 95. So yours is likely 95-97.
That should narrow it down enough to order brake parts, if they are any different than the 7.5. The 8.5 in the S10 has the axle tube diameter reduced down so standard S10 brakes will bolt on to it. Drums are likely the only variant.

Re: Help !! What rear end do i have ? I need to order brake parts

looking more like its the 4x4 width
but measure as directed to be sure
Im guessing the leaf spring mounts are cut off?
cant see them and you didnt list that measurement.
Novas were very close to that width (just a little wider) and then there was the A body just a little wider too.
then the 2nd gen Firebird/camaro

Looks like a bulge on the cover for the ring gear...or is it an optical illusion?

Really, with the exception of the wheel cylinders (a couple of different mounting options), they are all the same.

If you have the old wheel cylinders, take them in with you. Since they are not disc brakes, I'd start with something pre-98.
