Thumbs up 2600 front bag options ....... ++++ couple more ??

Going through my bagged daily driver 98 hombre.

specs...
thorbeck rear 3 link,
cnotched
2600 airlift rear bags,
2500 (CURRENTLY) front airlift bags,
5gal tank, 8 valves, 1/2 lines
Big AZ compressor (loud as hell prob needs rebuild and positioned upright)
150/180 pressure switch
front shock relocators, front and rear shocks
4 banger
stock inner fender wells (damn dirt road)

Problems.....
small front bags -- take too long to fill, bad ride.
Want the front to drop more, the rear is plently low... can drag rear quarters. Might even want more lift out of rears without going to a 5 link.
NO Sway bay --- bad bouncy ride

Questions about 2600 bags for the front.
I know i have to trim spring pockect some more.
I just dehumped and plated my stock lca for frame clearance.

Do i still run an upper spring pocket to bolt up the bag, or do can i add an upper plate?

What size 2600 are you running?
Couple specs....

DeNominator-II
Air Spring
Diameter 7.25"
Closed 2.8"
Extended 12.00
3049lbs per bag
600psi rated

Double Convolute
Air Spring
Diameter 7.25"
Closed 2.8"
Extended 10.50"
3049lbs per bag
500psi rated

Dominator D2600 600psi airbag. Single 1/2" port.
-Min Height: 2.8"-

Max Height: 12.5"-

Stroke: 9.7"-

Max Dia: 8"

AND...... Do Stock swaybars work on FBSS Set ups???

Yea you still run an upper cup. I would smooth out the cuts on your spring pocket, the sharpe corners could lead to you frame cracking.

Some of the guys that were running Dominator D2600 bags switched to slam specialties. The doms ballon out alot causing a lot more cutting. Slams ride a little bit better also.

Good luck!!

Re: 2600 front bag options ....... ++++ couple more ??

Slam Specalties SS HE or RE bags? I dont see specs but i see these are 250psi rated, the the other brands are 5-600psi rated.
Help. haha

Sounds good - ya the last owner trimmed the old spring pocket, so i'll cut it up and clean it up.

Do you need to box in the upper spring cup/frame due to a weak crush point on collision?

2600 bag offset -- are u guys spacing yours 1/2 " to the outside?

my 2500 sits like a banana, i want the 2600 to sit at the right angle.

Re: 2600 front bag options ....... ++++ couple more ??

i would go with SS or RE. If you are going to be using it as a driver and not a hopper.

I didnt box the spring cup, but when i was trimming the back side of the spring pocket i grinded down until the two pieces of metal seperated. This is pretty common, you just weld it back up and grind it smooth.

As far as cups go, I just run suicide doors cups. They have slots cut in them so you can offset the bag. I offset mine as much as i could to the outside of the spring pocket.

Re: 2600 front bag options ....... ++++ couple more ??

ok found some re-7 specs
Diameter Max PSI: 7"
Max PSI: 200
Plate Material: Zinc/Aluminum
Min Height: 2.9"
Max Height: 11"
Mounting (top): (2) 3/8" - 16
Mounting (bottom): (3) 3/8" - 16
Air Port NPT: (1) 1/2"
Internal Bump Stops: Yes
Force to Collapse: 300lbs

I plan un using upper cups from my 2500 bags for my new 2600 bags...
unless they are too small for the bigger bags???

How about Bag angle... nobody runs an angled lower bag cup (or angled plate) so that the bag will angle inwards towards the upper spring cup?
or will spacing the 2600 bag 1/2 outwards on the upper cup change the angle so the airbag doesn't sit like a banana

Re: 2600 front bag options ....... ++++ couple more ??

Doms sit like that my 2500's were just like that. It's normal for them. I recently switched to slam ss6 and the ride is much better and the bag sits pretty much flat. My Dom 2500 filled pretty fast and my ss6 which are smaller bags fill fast too on 3/8 line and valves. Might be something else in there causing the bag not to fill fast enough. I can almost hop my 2.2.
As for not going low enough a bigger bag won't fix that I see that you have no notch for your tie rods. They are probably keeping you from going lower also your inner fenders will hold you back. Tires will rub unless the are really small.
And your sway bar won't really give a bad bouncy ride its more just to lessen swaying in turns. My bet is the bouncy is from the dom bags.or possibly bad shocks up front. Get some slams I'm extremely happy with mine. Also if your planning on sticking a Dom 2600 or equal size up front your gonna want to cut more frame. And clean up and smooth everything. It looks a lot better and is safer.
Also your upper cups should be good to use with a bigger bag but if its a Dom make sure the edges on the plate of it are smoothed out.

Good luck! Hope this helps

Re: 2600 front bag options ....... ++++ couple more ??

Also sway bar will work but it will limit your side to side some. And 250 psi is plenty good for just a daily but if you plan to hop your gonna want more

Re: 2600 front bag options ....... ++++ couple more ??

Thanks for the input guys. Goin to orde rsome re-7 slam bags for the front.
While im in there i'll see how stiff the shocks feel.

I'll hold off on a sway bar for now untill i see how the ride is, i want to keep the side to side as maxed as possible. but also a daily driver.

Next Question - I heard i can buy brass plugs for my dump valves and drill a small hole to change the dump air rate..
Ya'll tried this? Im cheap and my front slams down.
Guessing the lower psi 2600 bags won't slam down as hard.

Painted up some old camaro rims tonight and slapped them on. 1/4 spacers in front. need at least 1" spacer in rear to match up.

Got to love how hombre's bed and fenders flare out more than dimes.

Drilling the plugs out has been done many times.

sounds good. so my 2500 upper cups should work for the new 2600 bags?
i just have to wait for the bags to check the offset needed for re-7's.

Re: 2600 front bag options ....... ++++ couple more ??

Your valves are gonna determine how fast your truck drops. The bag size won't make much if any of a difference. Just get the plugs like you mentioned and start with a small hole drilled and go up drill bit size to your desired speed.

97ext cab - fbss, 1/2 danz, sd 5 link & arms, re7s up front re8s rear, 2 5gal tanks, shocks frnt&rear, swaybar, dual 480s/sanden edc,avs switch box, train horn, hydro boost, tubbed, shaved,

Re: 2600 front bag options ....... ++++ couple more ??

Almost ready to buy bags.. Another question about Slam bags.

What does the difference in this mean?
Force to Collapse (Min height) --
RE-7 300lbs 200psi rated
SS-7 50lbs 250psi rated

Re: 2600 front bag options ....... ++++ couple more ??

it means how much weight it takes to make the bag get to its shortest state or bottomed out

oh thanks man.

pshh

More asking is it going to have a change ride quality.

is one bag going to be 'softer' than the other since it has a softer force to collapse -
or when slamming down or using airride, will i be able to notice a difference?
trying to get the perfect bags for the front.... we are alot heavier than 50-300 lbs in the front ends with motors so obviously its going to collapse either way.

thanks i know i can be annoying

I was running RE6's on my old dime and it rode good and I didn't have front shocks. I was gonna upgrade to RE7's for slightly better ride but never got around to it and then sold the truck.

And sorry to get off topic but your truck looks familiar, was it on CL or something?
