4l60 Swap to 700r4

i have a 92 and a 93 s10 and for sure one is the 700r4(92) but my 93 didnt have the big electronic box on the drivers side which made me think it is the 4l60, even though there is a plug where my kickdown cable would go on my 92. im looking to swap the 4l60e(if its the E) out and put the 700r4 in the 93. my question is the kickdown cable needs a bracket or will it fit to the existing one on my throttle body. If there are any threads on this already i would like to read them

Re: 4l60 Swap to 700r4

both 4wd, i did notice the tail shaft was a bit shorter and smaller in diameter so i matched serial numbers and just swapped out the transfer case so i could just fit right back in

Re: 4l60 Swap to 700r4

Need pics of all your trans and the drivers side of the engine of the truck you want to put it in. A TV cable hooks onto the TB and is held by a bracket on the intake. TV cables deserve serious attention. That little cable does all the things the computer does on the E version. If that cable isn't right you can toast a 700R4 or 4L60 (non E) in 10 miles. It's the primary reason 700R4's used to have a bad rep as not holding up well to engine modifications. In a lot of cases guys were going the generic "Gotta have a Holley to go fast" route w/o properly understanding the TV system or how to install it on aftermarket carbs. Then they blamed the "weak" transmission for their ignorance.
The later 700R4 is a strong transmission. I had one behind a 454 in an S10 and it never gave me any issues.

I’ll get some more pictures tomorrow when I’m off but there’s the 93 driver side of the tb, the throttle cable from the 700r4 and the plug which I’m not sure is a 4l60 or 4l60e. I was told there would be a big module in the driver side which I do not have if in fact it was a e

Re: 4l60 Swap to 700r4

The big electronic box you mention on the drivers side is likely a PNR safety and backup light switch.
If you put a 92 700r4 (renamed the 4l60) into a 93 you'll need the 92 throttle body which has a place to connect the Throttle Valve cable and the bracket off the rear of the intake to hold the TV cable mount and adjusting slide.

Ok I’ll swap that out and go from there thanks. If I have anymore questions I’ll be sure to let you all know lol

I’m the OP but it made me make a new account through Facebook when I tried to log on.

Are there any tutorials or good videos that I can reference to the set up of a new throttle body off of a 92?
