1989 s10 blazer cold issues

Whenever the vehicle is cold started 10 seconds after start it has a high to low idle it repeats and sometimes stall, usually after a restart and a blip on the gas it corrects the issue, while the vehicle is still cold after going into drive and moderately stepping on the gas the vehicle will bog down and have its "pop" this also sometimes may stall the vehicle. Once the vehicle is at operating temperature all the symptoms go away. I replaced the coolant temperature sensor I replaced the cap and rotor,I replaced the spark plugs along with the wires

Hi Lloyd, there's a good chance you'll be waiting for a reply for a while, he hasnt been on in a few months. Better off trying to create a new thread. Lot's of helpful people here.

Try checking the IAC besides the throttle body.

Re: 1989 s10 blazer cold issues

the answer/ fix in case anyone was wondering so that any poor soul who finds them self's in this pickle

I stumbled upon it accidentally I was retiming the engine with a timing light and noticed the right injector was dripping.this was a clogged injector. after a trip to my local parts yard, took a low mileage TBI system from a 5.7 1993 Cadillac fleet wood, worked like a charm and in my case the engine runs ok, one clue to look for is when your 0bd1 is running a lean code under heavy acceleration

Re: 1989 s10 blazer cold issues

Surprised that it's not running rich with the 5.7L Caddy injector. The actual injectors on those are capable of a much higher 61lb./hr flow rate than the 45 lb./hr. on a 4.3L. Guess the ECM must be capable of compensating for the 35% higher flow rate.
