Where do I spray carb cleaner to fill the bowl

What’s up again everyone

My carb is making this buzzing noise. I bought a can of carb cleaner to try to clean it a bit. I hear your supposed spray it till the bowl is filled and run it through the carb. Where exactly do I spray it in the carb to fill the bowl?

I attached a link to a video so you can hear the noise. BEWARE- this is very annoying!

https://youtu.be/wSxGJLxATOo

Here’s a picture of the top of my carb to reference:

Re: Where do I spray carb cleaner to fill the bowl

Just run some cleaner meant for carbs thru the gas tank. chances are, your carb cleaner will do more damage than cure at full strength. I'd rebuild it before I tried that. If you don't want to rebuild, swap it for a Weber. There are a number of threads on this and the results are great.

Re: Where do I spray carb cleaner to fill the bowl

I sprayed a bit in the carb the other day and the noise isn't close to as bad today. Im not sure what's causing it but I think it might have worked. Id rather try to not pull it apart before trying to fix it how it is now.

The crazy part is I'm getting better gas mileage now. I usually get 250-280 per 20gal tank city. Right now I have about 400miles in and still have a quarter tank left.

What is the brand name of this miracle treatment that nearly doubled your fuel mileage.
You were getting 12.5 to 14 and now it's up to almost 27. Wow.
I want to buy some of that.

No. It’s getting better gas milage since it started making that noise. I just fueled up today. 500 miles and still had a bit over empty to go.

The noise was really loud like in the video. I sprayed some carb cleaner around and the noise went down a bit.

I’m thinking about just rebuilding the thing over the labor day weekend. Oriley has a walker kit available. Anyone know about this brand? Is there another brand out there that I should consider?

Hey guys. My carb and carb kit have two different parts. Is it ok to use the new one or should I use the same one? New one is on the left.

I can't get your pics to enlarge but the first pic looks like the new style seat for the float needle. You should have gotten a needle that slides in that smoothly.

I wish I could enlarge the pic to be sure.

I put in the new float needle seat.

The diagram doesn’t really get into detail. I have those two gaskets left over and a few rivets and plastic parts for the bars.

I’m gonna put it back on now and see how it goes. I have a feeling I’m gonna be pulling it back apart tomorrow. I’ll let you guys know how it goes I’m a bit.

Finally got it all together. The **** fuel line took forever. I had to mess with the big bolt it connects to to get them together. Pain in the ***! When I started it, it revved really high. My guess is the idle screw but I don’t really know. I don’t know how to properly adjust it ether.

Everyone said this was easy. I have to say, for my first time, it was not. **** took me all day. I did learn tho.

Anyone got any ideas? I’ll be up in the morning going down the list I get here. Gotta get her running. She’s my daily so I’m stranded till then.

Thanks!

Re: Where do I spray carb cleaner to fill the bowl

Some guys use a tach to adjust idle screws, some use a vacuum gauge. Either way, you'll need to go back and forth between idle screws and mixture screws. I prefer a tach. You should check youtube for the procedure.

Started back at it this morning. First thing I noticed was the chock flap not moving like it should. After inspection, I realized the little hook that holds the choke open till the engine is warm was on wrong. I pulled off the carp, took off the bottom, and fixed it. After throwing it it back on it fired right up like it was never taken apart. The first photo is of the hook in the wrong place

So I was listening to the carb for buzzing (the whole reason I did this) and I didn’t hear anything. I go to put on the air box and start connecting everything. I connect this one wire and there’s the buzzing. I think it’s this green little box that’s inside the air box. It has two prongs that hook up to two wires on the bottom of the air box. As soon as I connect the wires, the buzzing starts. I went to O’Reillys and they didn’t know what the little green box was. I posted a photo of it below. Anyone know what this is and where I can get one???

Another thing I noticed is the idle screw is not a regular screw head. I posted a photo for everyone to see. My roommate says it’s a special tool. They didn’t have any answers at the parts store. Anyone know where I can get one of these tools???

Thanks

Re: Where do I spray carb cleaner to fill the bowl

That has AC on it so must be an AC Delco part that is part of the emissions system. Try sending a pm to Bad Wrench he would know what it is. Unfortunately he isn't on here very often lately.

You can make a tool for adjusting it by putting a slot in a broken screw driver tip.

A good starting point to set that screw at is to turn it, lightly, inwards till it bottoms, and than back it out 2.5 to 3 turns.

Thanks guys.

I’ll message that dude now.

When you say “turns” do you mean 360 or 180???

Again, thanks for the help everyone!
