question on this plug in connector

Looks like the top hose connection to this connector is a permanent stay. Can I eliminate the connector and run 4 individual hoses to the switch that is on the intake OR does the connector perform a function other than a convince.

1985 S-10 2.8ltr. Radio delete, 2WD positraction, gauges, halogen lights and off-road tire option (standard tread front, off-terrain tire rear - now running 4 Winterforce tires). Delco gas shocks. Dad was original owner. 95K miles now. Single stage urethene repaint was the summer of 2011 project (now faded, don't buy Eastwood's paint).

That is a thermal vacuum switch, at a certain temp a valve inside will divert vacuum to other sources such as egr, e cell. Honestly i got rid of it, finding a 4 tube is absolutly impossible. You can leave the valve still installed but kick the lines out.

Re: question on this plug in connector

Thanks Grease for rhe reply back. I ended up running direct individual lines to the switch FWIW.
