Question Drivability problem

So I have a 1999 S10 4X4 ZR2, rough idle (barely idles) and begins to idle correctly after a few minutes, once the engine starts to idle correctly and the accellerator pedal is depressed the engine will act like it dies and will not idle up. After checking fuel pump which seems to act like it is unable to create pressure and sounds rough, there's not a high pitch that is typical of normal operation. I am questioning whether I need to replace fuel filter or the pump? Also when the accelerator is pushed the engine begins to misfire. Any helpful thoughts/advice is appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Drivability problem

You need to check the fuel pressure with a gauge to make a determination of whether the pump is good or not.

Re: Drivability problem

Start cheap and easy. Do the filter first. If that doesn't fix it, then worry about the bigger stuff. Could be a few different things. Got a check engine light? Might be something as simple as a tune up.
