My roommate just bought a 2.5 and we set the timing yesterday by first jumping the upper right two pins in his service connector. I decided to do the same to my 2.8 since I've been running a little rich since I bought the truck. Put the paperclip in, and now the truck won't start.
Is the procedure the same with my 2.8 or did I screw something up with that pin? I can get it to run but barely. Thanks in advance for the help this is my first chevy.
So I guess this is just a crazy coincidence that I'm having this issue. It's running like my timing is way off but I've been trying to set it for an hour with no luck.
Make sure your using the correct timing mark on the balancer. Theres 2 thin lines and 1 fat line. Its the fat line you use. Engine should be at operating temp. And make sure you have the 1 cavity connector unpligged in the passenger side footwell. Also hopefully your reading the timing gun correctly if it has a dial.
Also how deep did you short out the 2 pons on the aldl? Hopefully you didnt booger up the terminals by sticking in the clips to far and rough
