91 S10 keeps burning ignition cylinders.

Hey guys, I've been having a weird issue. I just picked this 91 up about two weeks ago and last week my ignition cylinder went out. No big deal, easy replacemt. After a week of semi-daily driving it seems to have happened again.
Just as a background the PO seemed to not care much about the truck seeing as how the wiring behind the stereo is twisted together with painters tape on it.
I'm pulling the harness out today and searching for a short but as I need my truck next Saturday I'm starting to get worried.
Is there no fuse protecting the ignition cylinder? I'm afraid to install the new onejust to burn it up again.
Thanks in advance for the help, fellas.

And now I've noticed I get no headlights or anything. Battery and alternator are good. I hope someone has some advice.

I think you're going in right direction with that. I'd pull up some wiring diagrams and start tracing grounds/cleaning grounds.

I think headlights, horn, and turning signals use the same ground. I could be mistaken but check under hood near horn for ground for headlights.

Re: 91 S10 keeps burning ignition cylinders.

Check the grounds on the bottom of the dash too. If you are looking at the e brake in the off position look on the dash above it....both sides should have that location. The driver side one will cause funky issues if loose.

Thanks for the help guys. I found a short coming from the starter solenoid. Also I bought some good battery terminal clamps and made solid connection to the wires and she's all better.
