Manual transmission

I recently put in a manual transmission and new clutch into my 95 s10 2wd, i just finished everything and bled out the clutch the first time and it still needed more because it would grind into almost all the gears. So i bled it out more and it felt a lot better and drove better, but the only gear it grinds in is 4th. Every other gear shifts nice and smooth when im driving except 4th. Is there a way to adjust the clutch pedal? Or does the clutch need to be bled out more? If someone could help, that would be awesome!!

Re: Manual transmission

Did you try the transmission before you installed it?
You know it was good before you bought it?
I had a T5 I bought at the Upull, and it turned out to have a pooched second gear synchro.
It grinds every time unless you double clutch or shift super slow.
Sounds like you have a bombed 4th gear synchro....

Where does the clutch engage? at the bottom of the pedal travel or in the middle?
If it engages in the middle of the pedal travel, it's most likely a bombed synchro.

I would also change the tranny juice and substitute Pennzoil Syncromesh fluid for ATF.

I did not test it after i bought it, i got it from ebay so i figured it was all good lol. But the clutch engages more towards the middle now than it did before i bled it a second time, but the clutch pedal still has a little play in it like the pedal can either be adjusted or the clutch could be bled out a little more. I was thinking maybe one of those could be it?

Re: Manual transmission

you can try it but since its not on the floor, I bet its not the clutch disengaging incorrectly.

Obviously you haven't bought much on eBay.
The first thing you do with anything from there is check it over very thoroughly. A lot of crap on there. I've sent back 2 items this month because they didn't fit or were fakes.

As far as your clutch goes, they have to be bled many times to get all the air out. Can be a PITA to get it all out.
As stated above if all the other gears sound and feel right, could well be the 4th synchro.
And your eBay seller will say it was OK when he shipped it. Although he probably has no idea because he likely never tested it.
