1992 4l60 to 1993 4l60e swap Help!

I am in the middle of doing a V8 swap on my 1992 stand cab short box S10 with the 4.3 and the 4l60 with the TV cable. I am installing a 1993 TBI 350 with a 4l60e, and my main concern is how to properly go about installing the 4l60e portion of the wiring to the current stock harness? I am keeping the engine harness since all of the sensors will be the same. I will be using the 350 TBI ECM but how do I get the wiring from the transmission spliced into the current wiring to the ECM? And will I be able to swap my ECM and vehicle speed sensor buffer and the current pins from the v6 ECM match up the same as my V8 ECM?

I would greatly appreciate any knowledge and or pictures, / pin locations to run the 4l60e to the V8 ECM.

Thank you!

4L60 only has TCC controls. For a 4L60E, you will need a 1993-95 setup, or a stand alone computer to operate the transmission.

I am going to be using the ECM that came with the TBI 350 and the 4l60e, I am just trying to figure out how to run the wires from the transmission to the ECM connector properly. I am keeping the rest of the wiring stock since all the sensors are the same

Re: 1992 4l60 to 1993 4l60e swap Help!

Did you get the trans pigtail or harness along with the 350 and 4L60E? If you did it will really simplify things since all but 2 of the wires just go straight to the PCM.
The ppl [email protected] M on the trans splices into the ppl wire @pin A on the MAP sensor and Pin E pnk/blk goes to the ign/gauge fuse.
Here's the pinouts @ the trans and PCM:

Let me know how it worked out and if you have any other questions.
Welcome to the forum.

Yes, I got the entire wire harness out of my 93' k1500 when I pulled the engine and transmission, so I guess my next question is since I am using the stock harness from the 92 S10, am I able to just add the 4l60e portion of the wiring which goes back to the transmission? And if so how do I wire it in?

Would it be easier to use the 93 harness, and graft it to the 92 truck?

Re: 1992 4l60 to 1993 4l60e swap Help!

You need the 93 connectors for the 93 PCM and just swap the pins one at a time from the 92 harness into the 93 connectors. Since the 92 has a 24 pin connector and a 32 pin and the 93 has 2-32 pin you'll need a wiring diagram for each so that you move the pins to the correct location.
This might help. It's the 93 pinout;

Here's a 92 pinout from my files:

If you stick a bobby pin in under the pin it'll slide out easily. May take a but of tinkering to figure out the first one, but once you get the first one the rest are easy.
For example injector A will be pulled from position D14 in the 92 connector and go into A9 on the 93.

Oldeerslayer thank you a million! I've been trying to Google everything under the sun to simply get the answer you just told me. I appreciate it more than you know. I seen quite a bit of people say that they just put the V8 ECM in and were good to go but this definitely clarified. I think this would help a lot of people trying to properly do this swap ! You are a huge help. For anyone who needs a guide on how to do it I would say this is the best info I have found on how to properly install a 4l60e in a pre 1993 S10 with the 4l60 non electronic transmission. Thank you!

So is this not the right diagram for the 1993 4l60e?

So I have figured out the majority of the wiring but I am left with some that I am unsure of and I don't want to just guess.

So on my 93 ECM-
B-15 _ dk Blu - knock sensor, the 92 pinout doesn't show a knock sensor

B 16 brn, the 92 doesn't show EGR pintle

F16 dk grn, canister purge Sol. Not on the 92 pinout

E7 dk Blu/ wht, air bypass valve, not on 92 pinout

E13 ppl, brake switch not on 92 pinout

E14 gry, MAP linear EGR?

E15 pnk/BLK, IGN fused,

And then on the 1992 S10 I have most figured out but a couple I am not sure what pin to connect them to on the 93 ECM

B10 orange/BLK , park neutral switch

A11 BLK, TPS/CTS ground

C7 light blue, high gear switch signal

C9 purple/white, crank signal

And I believe I got the rest pinned out properly.
Any info I greatly appreciate a lot!
Thank you!

Can't be a 93. The PCM pin numbers go into the 40"s and 50's. 93 PCM didn't have any pins numbered that high. Has to be from a much later model. They mention red and blue connectors. Sounds like a 2001 or newer 0411 style PCM which is 2 generations higher level.

That's a diagram I downloaded a while back off the internet, but I am still trying to figure out the rest of the pins that don't match up from the 92 S10 ECM and my 93 ECM, any idea where the pins I mentioned connect to?

Since you are using a 93 PCM and engine/transmission, you may have to add some wires the 92 harness doesn't have.

As for the 92 leftovers;
A11 on the 92 would go to B3.
I think 92 C9 woud go to 93 F11
C7 probably isn't needed since the 93 PCM knows which gear the 4l60E is in.
Probably the same for B10?
Your going to have a little trial and error, I'm sure.

I have the vehicle speed sensor signal wire (dark blue) on the 93 , and I am not sure what to hook it up to since the 92 only has the brown vehicle speed sensor wire that goes to the buffer, I would appreciate any help.
Thank you
