Just threw my old one away. Had a few minor cracks so I tossed it. I got a brand new one off of E-Bay for $20.

Re: So Cal General Discussion

any suggestions about how i'd go about fiberglassing this? I've done sub boxes and my center console before, but i think this front valence may be a bit different.

Check out this custom center console I just got done building for a customer. Here is the link to the buildup... http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f27/project-fiberglass-radio-housing-184534/ I had to fiberglass over plastic in some of the places so I drilled a bunch of small holes through out the plastic. This way when the resin is applied, it will seep through the holes and bond to itself when it hardens. It basically sandwiches the valance. If your just trying to get the valance smooth though, you don't have to fiberglass it. All you have to do is sand down the factory texture. Once you paint it, it will look like it is fiberglassed. However if your molding pieces together and creating something custom out of the factory valance and other parts, then you may need to fiberglass or plastic weld it all. Since the valance flexes, fiberglass may crack unless you really load it on there. When you plastic weld it together, all you have to do is smooth it all out so the valance blends as one and then paint it.

Re: So Cal General Discussion

Yea when i did my center console, i drilled holes so it all sunk in, but with the valence i am worried about bendign and the fiberglass cracking. Where would i get plastic to go about the plastic welding method. And wehre do you get plastic welders?

LOL we were messing wiht a harbor frieght plastic welding and that thing was a piece of junk. We welded in & out trays together and the plastic filler stretched and tore. But if you get a good one it will work.

Re: So Cal General Discussion

like $15 bucks it could have been that we didn't read instructions and didn't clean the plastic LOL but we ended up throwing it away. HA!

Re: So Cal General Discussion

I've paid for quite a bit of the truck, but obviously not enough to convince them i have controlling interest. I'm pissed at my sister now. THey just got an 03 blazer 2 dr for her.

So now the front of my house looks like a ****ign GM dealer ship;

02 GMC Sierra
99 GMC Yukon 4x4
99 Chevy s10
03 Chevy Blazer

as soon as i called them, my moms first words were :" dont even think about touching it" and my dads were : "no this isnt a parts car for your truck"

Wouldn't the truck be a parts truck for the blaze? I am sorry to hear that your little sis ended up with a better ride. My sister turned 16 and now they are on the hunt for a car for her. I had to get a job before I could get a new/near new car. But no beater for her.
