no i don't have my own place yet, but hopefully soon i will. prices for apartments can be high depending on what you're use to. but you get what you pay for. mechanicsville is a nice area to live, low crime, nice people, etc. now it can be pretty boring, but you do have downtown richmond right down the road. one thing i do advise is do not go to the pines at cold harbor, i know the name makes it sound nice, but they're not. any other apartments you'll be good. i think that's it, if need some more info or whatever let me know i've been here for 10+ years. if you want you can hit me up on AIM Low4Life08.

i'll keep that in mind. i plan on going down there for a day or two when i'm up seeing my wife. it'll be around the 12th or 13th. what do you do there? school? work? i've looked into attending vcu, but i know there's a few other colleges out there. from what i've seen vcu is pretty nice.

i live here in the ville (as we call it) and work in richmond. yea vcu is nice, right in the heart of downtown but nice. what are you going to school for? where are you from? and what brings you to richmond?

wife is from pa. i'm from new orleans. she didn't feel like coming back here after the hurricane and we talked about moving closer to her family so she just went back home. now we're going to move to va so in the event i'm deployed she won't be too far from home. there's three units in norfolk/va beach that belong to my command here in new orleans.

i plan on taking biology and/or chemistry. i've had a few years already plus my military job is along the same lines. hopefully i'll be finished within 2 years but all depends on credits transferring.

oh cool. well i hope you like it here. it's pretty nice i like it. but then again i grew up here so it's really all i know. oh and one other thing downtown richmond can be pretty scary at night so i wouldn't go down unless you have to. there are some areas that are ok, but then there's others where you wanna stay out at all costs.

in mechanicsville, there's Hanover Crossing, Mill Trace, Chickahominy Bluff, Beaverdam Creek, Windsor at Hunter's Woods (these are townhomes). and that's all i can think of off the top of my head. if you want to look outside Mechanicsville than i would just go to ApartmentGuide.com. that'll be your best bet.

have you heard of signal hill or sherwood crossing? i've found info on the rest of those you listed and some others except for these two. what's your take on them if you've heard or driven by?

Signal Hill is nice. they're old, but kept up good. my grandma use to live there and she loved it. i live right down the street from those too. Sherwood crossing? hmm not sure if i know of those.

question for you richmond truckers...
how much crap do i have to go through for an inspections sticker? i read the state police website and it seems like there's a lot of shit on their list to check over for inspections. how hard up are they about that shit? is tint a really big issue? site said 35% for rears and 50% for front side windows. also how long does it usually take for it to get done?

here in louisiana it's cake. drive in, they check your lights, horn, and wipers. in and out in under 10mins. it's a joke. tints supposed to be 35% fronts and whatever in rears but no one ever checks it. help me out because i move in about a month. thanks.
