Boston area members
Hey guys, I live in WI right now but me and my gf are starting to think about a vacation to Boston and surrounding area for next summer, I'll probably update this closer to the time but I just wanted to get a feel for how you guys like living there and maybe things to do or see. If we both like it there is a possibility of moving there in 2 years when she graduates from college. So we are more or less planning a trip there to see if it would be a good place to live. I'm curious about things like the weather, cost of living, best areas/cities to live in, it doesn't have to be right in Boston, but not more than an hour or so away. We're more looking into what life is like as far as a permanent citizen versus a vacation spot. Thanks for looking and I look forward to seeing what you guys say.

Re: Boston area members
Your gonna vacation in boston? Its a bunch of one way streets that all point to one inescapable place, Road construction and potholes. On the upside there are a few places of interest. I live in Orange ma, its about two hours away. I have been to boston two or three times and i thought it was a pretty shitty town, but i had no clue where i was going, i was just driving around aimlessly. I found quincy market, it was cool and i walked the freedom trail, that was cool. other than that i dont know what the city has to offer. Maybe i should go play tourist with you.

Re: Boston area members
Hey man as much as i say this place sucks i love it. I couldnt move outa the area if i wanted to. Winters are fun with the snow, summers are usually great weather and spring and fall are mice also. As for boston, its just like the other major cities across the us. Crappy traffic, so nice parts, some not so nice parts. The cost of living is pretty high up here but most jobs seem to reflect the costs. I live in southboro which is about 45 min commute into boston. 35 min if its off peak time. The closer to the city you are the higher things seem to be. I recommend when you come out stay about 30-45 min outside of the city to get a feel for the suburbs and then pick a day or two to commute in with everyone else. Yes we will honk our horns, flip you off and yell at you if you try to sneak in front of someone during rush hour but thats a typical boston commute. Hope this helps, when its closer i can answer any else your lookin to know. I go to boston every day to school and live and work in the suburbs so i feel i know a fair amount.

Re: Boston area members
Yeah the suburbs is probably where we'll hang out, I'm used to livin a few minutes outta Minneapolis but I have an idea Boston is a whole other cookie. 45 minutes to an hour out of the city would be what we'd be looking for so I'm sure when we make it out there we'll spend most of our time out there. Thanks for the info guys.
