Re: anyone near attleboro mass

Im torn as to what to do... the truck is currenty dead in the garage without the bed on. The fuel pump is shot and im flat broke and have zero time between school in boston and working 30+ hours a week. If i did the fuel pump i would replace the tank and straps also cause my bro hit something with the tank and fubared the tank up. The truck is a 98 reg cab 4.3 auto... 167k on it with all brand new suspension, a 4l60e outa 01 xtreme with 30k on it, transgo shift kit and vette servo installed, painted the whole frame up nice, brand new upper & lower power performance balljoints, all new power performance steering linkage, summit drilled & slotted rotors, hawk performance pads, belltech shocks, zq8s coils, belltech spindles, all brand new energy suspension bushings, body mounts, brand new (still have titties on them and stickers) Yokohama Avid S/T's on Vette Repro Rallys (295/50/15 and 235/60/15)... the whole shabang. Have you guys ever got in a rut on your project... what helps you pull through it. I look at it like i have about $800 +/- for the new fuel shit and then an exhaust which will get it running condition. But the body still needs alot of attention, interior needs work and i have a 4.3 with 167k on it under the hood. Im in school till aug then out working on coop then back to school next jan thru aug and then i grad. I get married in nov. after i grad in which i will hopefully be moving into a house but then i gotta worry about mortgage payments and home projects... idk what to do. I love my s10 cause it was my first car, i sold it to my bro cause i needed 4x4 for the worcester hills in the winter and he trashed the truck. what are your opinions guys... sorry for the book but i want to have all the facts up there.

I know exactly how you feel. My K5 is torn apart and i have almost no motivation to put it back together. In the end its your call, but you will kick yourself in the ass two months after you sell the truck. Im sure i could find you a new tank and sender on the cheap. Have you called custom radiator in gardner? I buy a lot from them through work. I just called and was quoted 147 for the tank, 231.40 for the sender/pump unit and 22 each for the straps.

Rock Auto lists different part numbers and prices for the truck, 2 door and 4 door models. Anyway... I can get the pump on ebay for like $150 ish then the tank and stuff shipped from rockauto is like $170. Im just gonna save up for a while till i can get a new setup... if i need to move the truck i will find a place for it and im glad that my Grand Cherokee can tow it on a trailer which will make me happy so i dont have to use one of the work trucks.

Re: anyone near attleboro mass

yeah radar i hear you... im gonna try to pickup some small shit like mowin my lawn and just save that cash for the pump and tank thing. Worst case is that the thing just sits till aug when i can go out and find a good paying job. i went from making $21.25 an hour to getting fawked over by the company (owner still owes me over $2800) and now i make $12 an hour at another company. shitty part is i dropped down to 30 hours a week for the summer semister so i only net like $250 a week and my bills are about $150 a week and then 2 tanks of gas to get to school and work im already in the red for the next week... it blows but i keep telling myself its just till august when i can get a better job.

Thanks... i have decided theres nothing i can do about my situation... it blows but it will get better in a while. ill think back in a few years and laugh as im driving my s10 finished the way i want. I have too much blood, sweat and tears (yes i cried a time or two) into my s10. It was my first car, had my first gf in it, first drag race, first burnout... the list is endless. Ill get it to run someday and if my parents bitch then i will load it up on a uhaul trailer and find a place to store it. I have a nice fitted car cover for it an hell it sat for 2 years at my gfs house im sure it can stay another year or two if needed. If you really want to cheer my up hook me up with ur black nice bed for the 2 beds i have, 1 black for ur truck and the busted one for the beater... lol

sounds to me like your stressed to the max right now.. let it sit for a little bit until you get things straightened out, theres no reason for you to finish your truck asap..get your life in order then everythign else will fall into place..unless you really need the money, in which case ill give you 500 for it, radar will giev you another 500 and chaching! 1000 in your pocket

Yeah man i am uber stressed... 4 days a week i drive my ass into boston for 8am classes usually here till 2 or 4 depending on day, at my office till 8pm, see the gf for an hour or two for dinner and then im in bed to start the process over. I got screwed over bad at my last company and things arnt much better where i am now. I have about $3000 with tools parts and other shit into my truck to where it stands now. Its just one thing i was hoping to have done so i could atleast go for a cruise in it this summer when i was stressed. To make things worse the summer semisters are only 11 weeks instead of the normal 16 so homework and projects are closer together and less time to do them. Ill get through it. I have a few good leads on coop jobs for the fall and i just gotta keep myself busy on everything and on sundays let loose a bit, take the waverunner for a bunch of laps on the lake and drink a beer or two with my friends. Shitty thing is im so stressed im starting to snap at my friends and wifey. Its only money and its only till aug i gotta cut myself some slack and just push through all this bullshit. Oh well back to my Structural Design III Project... Lucky Me!

Naw Construction Management, they say i need the structural design for "proper loading during construction" or whatever. I currently work at a small concrete subcontractor as their Senior Estimator & Project Manager (Well only cause im the only one in the commercial office.) I love working in the industry i just hate this small subcontractor bullshit. I want to get into a big company's (3-400 million $ projects) in boston and i have a bunch of good contacts (been off and on at this place for over 4 years now) so when i grad i will have 5 years in field / office experience, a bachelor degree in Construction Management and an associates in Business Admin. Its just a rut im in right now and i will be out of it once i know i have a good job lined up for the fall.

Im not knockin subs in general im just sick of trying to be a level headed manager and business man when they just want to stick to what has worked for the past few years. We have grown from about 20 employees when i walked in back in 2004 to over 40 fulltime guys and an office staff of 6. The owner has alot of overhead these days and cant afford to cut his prices and now when i bid im 10-15% high and im not landing projects cause he wont lower his prices. I took a huge pay cut coming back cause im suposta make 1% off the contract award prices which should be around 80k a month so 800 in my pocket... well its been 2.5 months and i havent landed any jobs and its all cause his pricing is too high. alot of the smaller concrete subs dont have major mortgages and own nearly as much equip as we have so they can afford to go cheaper on stuff.

Re: anyone near attleboro mass

yes we can go cheaper but even my company well i should say the family company right now is only me and my mother we work side by side 40 hours a week we bid as low as we can go on some jobs and we have other contractors out there that will bid even lower then us!!! i dont get how they dont lose money we have no over head besides 300 a month in rent and a 400 dollar truck payment thats it the rest of the overhead costs are the same for everyone else with taxes and insurance but they do it! talk to the boss tell him to drop his brice 2 bucks a square foot and he will get a little biz. but dont plan on landing any big jobs this year the economy is junk which hurts construction first i know alot of contractors out there right now selling their companies and taking factory jobs just to pay the bills. i started my own company andscaping for that very reason when masonry gets slow the lawn mower starts cutting!
