It looks good. Looks to be of very good quality, especially the welds.
I can't wait to get it on and see the results.
Hopefully there are no complications

You can rest assure this is not a mandrel bend kit

Now-a-days everyone is labeling their cat. converter as free-flow. Be an educated consumer.

Re: Y-Pipe Group Buy, most likely to happen!

I have some up close pics from a similar one of those:
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i4...0007Custom.jpg
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i4...0010Custom.jpg
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i4...0009Custom.jpg
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i4...0008Custom.jpg
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i4...0012Custom.jpg

Good thing I got my $ back for it (the rear near the main cat was damaged during shipping). It doesn't seem to be made with performance in mind, seems worse than OEM, its just for something that "works". Made by walker

That pipe does not even come remotely close to the quality of this other pipe from CRMB

Re: Y-Pipe Group Buy, most likely to happen!

I've considered the Walker replacement as it is the only thing available for as a simple bolt-on for a 5-speed, but I'm afraid the pre-cat is the same timebomb GM used in the first place. I'm sure the stock cat is a miracle of modern automotive engineering, but putting a pellet precat in front of it seems to be asking for trouble. I'd love a performance y-pipe, but would have happily settled for one that works. My precat became a surprise exhaust brake, with a fist sized chunk of catalyst bouncing around and almost completely blocking the exhaust when it landed just right. That completely took out the main cat, so now I have a gutted precat and a replacement main cat. The only legal way to remove the gutted precat would be to cut it off myself or punch a big hole in it and take to a shop to have them declare it legally broken and in need of replacement. It looks like it is in a tough spot for replacement which is why I hesitate to do it. If any one out there with a a p0240 code wants to do a fun experiment, silicone tape or find some way to temporarily seal all the tiny pinhole exhaust leaks ahead of the cat and see if your codes disappear. GM is trying to build an electric car and in nearly 20 years they couldn't build a good y-pipe, so consider that when you think about how long this y-pipe project has been going on and how many people have put their effort into it.

Re: Y-Pipe Group Buy, most likely to happen!

I was just testing the fit of o2 sensors in the new y-pipe, it appears the drivers side o2 bung is the wrong size, the hole is to big for the threads. The o2 sensor isnt able to grab anything.

Anyone else get this pipe and have this problem?

Re: Y-Pipe Group Buy, most likely to happen!

I got the donut(flange) gaskets because I may have the pipe put on tomorrow. I just noticed that the I/D of the gaskets is 1.75"

The ones I have anyway. With that being a bottleneck I wonder if the size of the pipe could be downsized to help clearance issues? With the gasket/flange only being so big, does it make a lot of sense to have a large pipe for each bank?

Which one is this? The one from your friend in the OC area or from a website/catalog or CRBM? Let's see the pix!

Re: Y-Pipe Group Buy, most likely to happen!

Just to let everyone about three to four months back i took my truck to CRMB. I have a 2003 S10 ZQ8 4.3l Auto, The only problem i have is that when i took it in i left it with him for about 2 days, he then infomed me that he would need my truck for a week or two. At the time i couldn't do it but at the end of novenber or sooner i may be able to get my truck to him so that the pipe can be made. I'll just need to contact him and see if he is still interested in making the pipe and using my truck.

Re: Y-Pipe Group Buy, most likely to happen!

sorry about the lack of coming back
if he still needs a truck. I have to do a minor repair to mine on the 15th of oct. then wait till the pay day at first of nov. after that I can make the trip down.
ill email him today and see what he thinks. If he needs it for like a week or two ill just see if a friend can follow me down and take me back once I leave it.
does anyone know if that law for having a passport passed yet? I have no record, I just dont have a passport and heard rumours that they'll want one soon
ill let you know what he says, so expect an update tomorrow

Re: Y-Pipe Group Buy, most likely to happen!

In all honesty, I can't see how this process is so difficult. I spoke to my exhaust guy 2 weeks ago, said I wanted a new y-pipe made. Yesterday, took it in, and within 3 hours he had a 2.00" Y done, into a 3" w/ a Magnaflow cat. Coupled to my previous 2.5" catback exiting in front of the tire with a Spintech Prostreet, I'm done.

Y-pipe was $300, cat was $200, previous was $80, muffler was $70. Considering all in all it was a total of maybe 4 hours worth of work, Y-pipes aren't hard if you know a good bender. He did each side with 1 pipe each. None of this multi piece pipes.

Re: Y-Pipe Group Buy, most likely to happen!

I agree with slvrs10
Im just gonna call up the shop that did my original exhaust and see how muh itll be
I already have everything up to the y-pipe, all I need is the y-pipe
and he treated me pretty good for the other stuff so why not for this too
even if its like $300, thats the way its looking
cause if I go see that buddy in oregon...id be paying like $300 gas anyways
so ill check back tomorrow or this weekend and let you know how much a local canadian shop quotes

I would recommend calling also. A conversation can do things that an e-mail can't.

Thanks for all of your efforts so far!
