Re: whats the best Muffler for a 2.8

When I had my 92 2.8, I just went to autozone and bought the cheapest lifetime warranty muffler they had. Surprisingly, it sounded really nice. Wasn't loud or ricey, but still had a rumble (as much as a 2.8 can rumble).

If you spend anytime at all in this Exhaust forum you'd notice I post quite often about REAL mufflers, recommend good performance mufflers all the time, or you could read my signature and notice 2 REAL mufflers I have had personally, etc. I know I'd be able to tell the mega carbon fiber bomb posted would be a joke but nevermind I guess.

Then that's where our misunderstanding came from!
I don't spend enough damn time in this exhaust forum.
And when i'm here i don't pay attention to who posts what, when, where, and how often they post it.

Nor do i read their cool list of cars...
Sorry i didn't get it but it is hilarious now that i know you were kidding.
God knows....those kids and their Folgers cans.

Gotta love them car alarms! Especially the ones that are so sensitive-you crank your truck and it goes off like you kicked it with a steel toe'd boot

Re: whats the best Muffler for a 2.8

Here's my '83 S10 with 2.8, headers, true duals, twin glasspacks out the rear. When I first got it, the glasspacks only went to just in front of the rearend but it roared too much going down the road for my taste. I ran them on out to the bumper and it sounds better to me.

Re: whats the best Muffler for a 2.8

Edelbrock headers
Magnaflow high flow cat
Magnaflow 1in2out muffler

I get confused for a V8 all the time at idle (she purrs oh so sweetly! )

Sounds great at highway speeds (not retarded loud at all but notable)
Idles like a damn champ I have fallen in love with my truck every time I crank her up. I'll get an audio clip up asap, all I have is a camera phone so I'm not sure how great it will sound but I'll do my best!

I'd love to hear that. There's a buddy on mine whose friend has a 4.3 ex-cab that I could have sworn was a V8 until he took off. Then is sounded like a typical V6... which would be asstastic.

actually the BEST muffler out of like 10 ive tried in my 2.8L was a dynomax turbo muffler from Murrays part store

i wish i could get a sound clip but the motor is completely seized up

details:
-stock y-pipe
-gutted cat
-straight 2.5" piping to 2.5" dynomax muffler
-2.5" turndown before axle

it was soooo quiet....but it had a deep tone and rumble

x3, mines routed out the side, between the bed and frame. the guy who did it put the yips on a little to far out for my taste, but nothing horrible. I plan to cut the tips of and re-weld them a little more tucked under.

oh, dont mind the multi-colored goodness, thats also getting taken care of.
