Re: true duals
No one makes true dual kits for the S-10 custom only and unless you wanna do some extra work to fab a cross member getting around it can be a pain as well. I run duals one down each side. But if you wanna keep the stock tank a custom cross over pipe is needed.

Re: true duals
Just run ever how many O2s you have now. As far as smog mine don't have to go through but I've known plenty of people who have. Depends on the style of test which will make the difference on what you need and how easy it is to pass.

Re: true duals
True duals are a waste for the 4.3 and they don't sound good.

Re: true duals
My buddy just ran true duals on his 5.3 '00 Silverado. It's quiet at idle but mean sounding at WOT. |

Re: true duals
If you got the power and flow true duals don't sound bad. I'll shake your windows out a idle and make you deaf at WOT. 1 7/8 long tubes 3 inch true duals tucked inside the frame one pipe per side with flowmaster outlaws.

Re: true duals
^^Lol yes i understand when you have the power to back it up. Very nice truck by the way. Lol but most people who ask about true duals have a stock truck or their "mods" include just UD pullies and an intake

Re: true duals
Soon i will have 2.5" y-pipe, 270 cam with necessary internals, and i already have a magnaflow hi-flow cat with all 3" piping leading to a spintech prostreet behind that exiting before my rear tire. Sounds pretty good as of now but the y-pipe and cam will make it better for sure lol

Re: true duals
i know i wont get a great sound out of what i want but i need exhaust at the moment and id rather do it right so when i can do more than the basic motor mods it will be ready. i cant really do everything id like to at the moment im still paying this thing off but when im able to trust me it will be done right. what did it run you guys to get exhaust done i have a buddy selling some straight pipe to glass packs off his camaro. it sounds like it would work for me if its just straight pipe along the frame.

Re: true duals
Mine all costume done by myself. Everything on mine is 100 strait. Just cost for the 3 bolt collector pipe and whatever the mufflers cost at the time. Welding and install time are all on me so. I think the pipe was like 25 or 30 bucks and the mufflers were like 80 a piece.

Re: true duals
Do this and you will have the best sounding 4.3 on the forums. Its my opinion but most should agree if you heard it. *Long Tube* headers, (i have hedmans) flowmaster 40's dual chamber (or muffler of choice) put rite after X member. Full 2 1/2" from header back, NO CATS! with full tail pipes. (use spark plug defoulers on your O2's to trick your truck into thinking it has cats) your going to have to make a tunnel in your X member to run the exhaust thru it. that should give you enough room to fit a muffler on ur driver side. if your have an X-cab like me i suggest running the driver side tail pipe under the drive shaft rite before the carrier bearing to run inline with your passenger side exhaust cuz the G tank gets in the way. make the pipe fit tight but not touching the shaft so you dont lay your exhaust out when you air out haha. i have my tails coming out of my bed pointing up rite after my G tank X member, cut flush wit my bed. looks and sounds good. I suggest that you have access to a welder, torch, pipe bender and lots of tools. a lift would also make the job 20 times easier. I can post some pics if anyones interested or just cant understand my instructions lol.

Re: true duals
To run 100 true dual like NiEm98Dyme talking about I find easy if you have a cross member like mine instead of costuming factory, easier to build it new.

Re: true duals
I used a G force kit to get the parts to build it. It came with everything you see there minus the right side frame piece that I added to completely bolt in stock location.

Re: true duals
my 96 has an 02sensor in each pipe after the manifolds then one in the y pipe then one after the cat does this mean to just run two 02 sensors(one close to the man. &the one in the y pipe) on one side, one 02sensor on the other and put a fouler on the 4th one to trick the ecu into thinkin I have a cat? or do you do something else? thanks for any help.

i've got a 96 4x4 4.3 blazer with a passenger side drop transfer case, so there is no chance in finding a kit. if anyone could answer my 02 question it would be a huge help! thanks. |

Re: true duals
Mount them as close to the headers/manifolds as possible. That is ideal.

Re: true duals
The rearmost (post-cat) o2 sensor can really be put anywhere in the general vicinity of the stock location, as it's not really going to be reading the "true" exhaust anyway.
I have a friend with a true duals setup similiar in nature to 03zq8s10's setup, and he has it about 6" after the H pipe, the H pipe being roughly were the stock cat was (only one, the truck's a '96) on the inside passenger side pipe (the two pipes are only about 8" apart, both running on the passenger side), no CEL light with the defouler "mod" going. |
