Thermo-Tech Muffler/Cat heat shield & battling in-cab exhaust heat

I found this in Four Wheeler magazine about a month ago from project teal brute. They were doing mods to make the truck cooler. Well my truck needs all the help it can get, because it's hotter than a motherfvcker inside of the cab, when it can be like 60* outside. It's not bad when cruising at anything over 35+ because I'll have the sunroof open (glass removed), windows down & floor vents open (well as open as they can be before they close themselves). Well, since most of my off-roading is done at very slow speeds, it turns the truck into a freaking oven. I've thought about redneck-rigging an A/C unit into the truck somehow, but may want to go the better way with adding some heat protection.

Anyone have experience with Thermo-Tec products, this heat shield specifically? It seems that a good 80% of the heat in the cab is coming form the cat and exhaust system in general. If I do it this way (I'm considering other alternatives, as in metal heat shields and stuff), I don't want to spend more than $80 to get it a bit cooler (for $80 I can get a wal-mart home ac and be a redneck and rig it to my truck somehow )

somehow vent underhood heat. use heat shields on the exhaust. you can even go as far as fully enclosing the exhaust pipes. and putting a blower on the front of the shields that blows air through. if done well enough, you could get the shields cool enough to touch. but it would be tough to do it for $80.
