spintech prostreet exhaust s10

Hello, I have a 2002 extreme, and I want to change out the stock exhaust system for the spintech prostreet muffler. I have 1 question though, I also want a high flow cat...whats a good brand for one? Also, what else do I need to buy for the setup, before taking it to the muffler shop? Any help would be great.

Spintech sells cats as well. Though with a 2002 that cat
which comes on it is a hi flowing unit too.

I used a spintech hi flow cat with a spintech sportsman street on the truck I list in my signature, both were of high quality and sounded great.

Re: spintech prostreet exhaust s10

The shop I had my exh done used a Magnaflow Univ Hi-Flo cat. They welded it in.
Later models (including my 2003 and your 2002) have the cat(s) as a part of the y-pipe assembly. If you went to GM and bought the replacement cat, it would come with the y-pipe. From the exh manifolds (2 3-bolt flanges) to the flange just behind the big cat (1 2-bolt flange.
I had a custom y-pipe mad and removed the pre-cat.
Before that tho, I had my stock cat go bad. I had them weld in the Magnaflow unit and they reused it when my y-pipe was done.

The part number was 94037. Magnaflow Hi-Flo cat. You can buy that anywhere.

Dynomax, Magnaflow, Spintech, Dynatech and others make replacement Hi-flo cats.

The stock ones flow really well tho. If yours isnt bad, not much sense in replacing it. That Mag unit does have an additional port (plugged right now) for another 02 sensor....if you added a AF Gague that would be a cool benefit.

Hope this helps/shines some light

Re: spintech prostreet exhaust s10

I've had good luck with my Magnaflow hi-flow uni cat as well. Like Mikz86ta said, the part numbers that have one or more 02 bung(s) included are helpful for obdII compliance for plugging in the rear o2, or like he said, using as a spot to set up an A/F guage if an o2 sensor is not needed there.
