post 2.2 downpipes

post up your custom 2.2 downpipe!

i just recently got mine hooked on something coming into a driveway, and ripped it open. it looks like the stock piping is 1.75"

my plans are to do a 2-2.5" downpipe off the stock manifold to a magnaflow spun high flow cat (already have) and magnaflow stainless muffler (already have).

i know a lot of trucks on here are bagged and shit, so you guys must be routing the exhaust creatively to prevent it from getting ruined.

post up! i need ideas!

Re: post 2.2 downpipes

sumone shouldn give that oval tubing a try. i know all the craps available the straights, bends and the mufflers in many different sizes. you'd gain sum ground clearance for sure

Re: post 2.2 downpipes

the first 2 links are about 4.3's and headers

the 3rd link is soda cans next to frames

and the 4th link would actually be helpful if the pictures worked.

i did search and found this 4th link, but the pics dont work and it doesnt help me.

Re: post 2.2 downpipes

the third link you actually have to read pretty far into...you wanted help i offered. Don't like it than quit bitching and search yourself. Or buy a 4.3 and follow the first 2 links

Re: post 2.2 downpipes

oh yeah dude by a 4.3 and swap it in that's way easier than rerouting an exhaust thanks for the good input

Re: post 2.2 downpipes

WOAH...your just complicating it. Don't swap a 4.3 in. Just buy a truck with a 4.3 already in it...problem solved. ORR maybe raise your truck up. So it can still function...as a truck. Even tho the 2.2 really wouldn't be good for hauling..well..anything

Re: post 2.2 downpipes

actually 2.2's can haul pretty much anything. i hauled alot of shit when i was doing construction/landscaping. most i have was over 1000 lbs in back of truck. was weighed in at a warehouse.

Re: post 2.2 downpipes

Yeah i agree with stockchevy1983. I've hauled trailer loads of scrap to the scrap yard with my 97 S10 2.2 5speed while my dads full size was broke. i rolled over the scale once with 4500pounds on the trailer. The guy inside asked me if i was trying to kill that little truck.

So, I am having problems with my flex pipe breaking. So I too want to see custom downpipes. Anyone have something done other than stock?

Re: post 2.2 downpipes

it appears that my flex pipe broke right off the flange.

but it is obvious by how smashed and ruined the rest of the pipe is, that it got hung up on something and destroyed.

stock downpipe is 1.75" so i want to make one that is larger and out of the way

my truck is bagged and i have a pacesetter, its up above the frame, it doesnt even come close to hitting the ground when i lay out. its 2 1/4"

Hahah so true. But ya oval tubing is by far your best bet. Your not gonna really gain anything with the headers and downpipe because it's not really being restricted already. And if you did gain anything at all it'd be very minimal. Just do oval tubing and save your money

you must not be familiar with the tutu.

stock downpipe is only 1.75" pipe. the obx header i ordered has a 2.5" down pipe. much mo powa. also if you look at a tutu manifold, the primaries are soo small and stupid shaped. obx hedda ftw? i'll make a thread next weekend when it comes in.

So you really think that because of this new exhaust the 2.2 is gonna be pushing out tons more power? There is a reason the piping is already that small to start with.

Re: post 2.2 downpipes

sounds good. I am sure it has the equivalence of a 2.5" y-pipe on a 4.3 when it comes to noticeability from the butt dyno
