new exhaust on its way 96 4.3

I bought my new to me sonoma from a old man that got it when is old brother-n-law past away. The guy was 85 when he died 3 years ago and he bought it brand new. So you can guess how the truck was drove. Putted around I bet the first time it seen 80 was when I was on my way home with it. The exhaust is clogged and in bad need of replacement. I have spent the last 3 weeks listing to exhaust clips on the net trying to find what I wanted. All I can say is there is a lot of flow master and magna flow on 4.3 acrose the country. I wanted something a bit different. deep not raspy but would let you know it was there when you stood on it. I placed a order with jegs today. I am getting

pypes pro street

and

Patriot Exhaust Muffler Inserts

3" pipe from Y back to the patriot auger. Then to Pypes. Then I havent made up my mind yet if it is going out the back or exit infront of the rear tire. I can tune the sound so to speak with the auger. No cat.

I will post a clip once I get it installed. Any one have any experience with ether of these?

well the parts come in today. Both look great. I need to pick up some pipe so I can play around with placement and see what the set up sounds like.

It is at the muffler shop now getting put on. I hate not being there to watch. Having to depend on others to do it right sucks. I would do it my self but I no longer have a shop or welder to do it with. House fire on mothers day took all that away. I had to work like every Saturday so that meant I had to drop it off. Lets hope they get it right and it don't look like a pile of dog doo under my truck....

Dont warry photo's and sound clip to come.

Re: new exhaust on its way 96 4.3

I am pleasantly surprised. Cant get a clip till I get home. It is not loud. Good I didn't want it loud. It is not exactly the sound I wanted. I wound up putting a 'used" high flow cat on it. All 3" from the Y back. Not crazy about the side exit the way it is. It sets to low. If I had been there I could have seen where it was going to wind up and went a different route. Not real happy with the tip. It is not what I wanted to start with. Yes I am anal.

the tip needs to be closer to the body... Spring is in the way. I wanted a rectangle tip but they did not have one so he put this one on there for free. I guess it will do tell I can order one in. Dont know what to do to get it closer to the body though. I will have to do some looking and thinking.

I'm not a big fan of the side exits in front of the rear tires, but to each his own...

I'm curious to hear what it sounds like...

Yea I cut it off as soon as I got home. Just put a dump right after the muffler. It is not loud at all. Once I get my role pan I will probably run it out the back duel center tip. I am uploading a video now. It really don't do it justice. Once it is loaded I might try again.

Also I changed some things up once again. I like the way it sound now better but I need to drive it to know for sure. I will try and get a better video up tomorrow but I am going to take a road trip to pick up a new front bumper cover so it might be late.
