Need Muffler - Spintech Guys
I'm pretty positive I have a hole in my stock muffler so I need a replacement. I think I'm going to go with the Spintech Sportsman Street SISO. I have the fatory exhaust on my 99 4.3L Xtreme. My question is what is the best way to have this thing installed? Should I just replace the muffler and keep all the stock pipes? Or replace the muffler and have them run new pipes? If so, how should I have the shop run them? I don't want anything fancy or too loud and definitely no cabin resonance.
Those of you who've gotten one installed, did you just ask the shop to install it even though it wasn't their part? How much should it be to just replace the muffler? The muffler and new pipes? Sorry for all the questions just trying to make the right decision. Thanks for any help. |

Re: Need Muffler - Spintech Guys
I just put on a single in dual out spintech. I believe it was a sportsman. I supplied the muffler and tips so all I bought from them were the pipes and brakets. For a six cylinder it sounds great. It has a nice low rumble to it and is very quiet when at a steady speed.

Re: Need Muffler - Spintech Guys
I run a Spintech Super Pro Street. If you get a spintech with the same inlet and outlet size as your stock one. You can just get them to cut the stock one out and weld in the spintech and just add a little bit of pipe to make up for the spintech being smaller. That will be the cheapest way of going about it. Unless you are going for some form or dual exhaust tips. Price I think will range big time on where you are. I have seen them do it in my area for anywhere between $50-$125. If the pipe isn't rusted or in bad shape I would keep it. But that is just IMO.

Re: Need Muffler - Spintech Guys
i have a spintech sportsmen street sido with a cat co hi flow cat converter. i had the shop run my pipes back to my bumper and sweep them down at either side. it took some bending and welding but they were able to make it work.

Re: Need Muffler - Spintech Guys
I appreciate the help guys. I got it all taken care of. Long story short, I wound up knowing the owner of the shop and he took care of me. Thanks again.

Re: Need Muffler - Spintech Guys
I'd take quality over price anyday, I'd rather pay the extra $ and know I'm getting a good spintech over a "knock-off", and also know it will probably last longer.

I own Spin. It's out in the shed. One thing about Spintech.
They are built and welded like a friggin' tank. |
