Re: muffler poll

i have a 03 blazer xtreme 4.3 in my shop at the moment and it has stock exhuast w/ resonator and stock cat.
a flowmaster pt#430402 and 2.5 dual tail pipes and 4"OD 22"long chrome tips

this thing sounds like my 85 monte ss w/ a 350ci crate engine and 2.5 true dual exhaust w/ 40series flowmasters

now..i have a 02 s10 xtreme 4.3 ext. cab w/ same exhaust as blazer but im running 2.25 dual tail pipes and 3"OD 18" long chrome tips and the blazer puts my truck to shame

anyone know or have an idea y this is?...im looking for the most agressive sound possible

Re: muffler poll

The 2.25" pipes give it a higher pitch and not so full of a sound. Id go with the 3" pipe from cat flange to muffler then dual 2.5" tails. That in my opinion would give the most aggressive sound.

Re: muffler poll

Or just 3" all the way. Cat to muffler and than 3" outlet.

actually i had 3" pipe to an original 40series 3"in and 2.5" dual out w/ the same tail pipes of 2.25 and same 3"tips

sound was actually mellower after the engine was hot and at idle but had a slite growl when 1st started and idled at 1000rpm

i am going to try the larger tails and the larger tips and test the delta 40 muffle on the truck now and the original 40 i had before and see what i come up w/

thanks for your help!

Blazers have a larger y-pipe and different cam.

But I doubt it sounds like a 350.

Re: muffler poll

I knew a dude that had a DM Bullet w/ a 3" setup on a 'noma..sounded like a Magnaflow on crack! It was loud, but just under "straight pipe-y obnoxious". Sounded great for a 4.3. People asked him all the time if he had an 8......

(J/K on that last part, I know that drives people nuts sometimes )

Re: muffler poll

I have a magnaflow, with twin 2.5" pipes going to 3" tips out the back, personally I love the sound.

I've heard Spintechs, and its a different kind of nice sound. Too much of a rumble and harshness to it, but many like that as its "350ish", or like some other big block, but IMO you are what you are. I think maggies do the best job of making a 4.3 sound like a performance 4.3. If you want the 350 sound, go with a spin.

I like seeing tips, I hate cars & trucks that have pencil tips, or hide them all together. Unless you got a 2.2 be proud of what you got and show your tips!

Re: muffler poll

I just bought 3 spintechs at the same guy on ebay. He was easy to deal with and got the 2 prostreets and 1 sportsman for 190 shipped to my door.

We used that guy last week for my father-in-law's Sportman, he was actually cheaper than buying directly from Spintech. It's gonna take a few extra days since he didn't have that particular part number in stock so he's gotta get one sent out from ST, but the price is worth it. I haven't heard any complaints (on the forums or through his Ebay feedback) about shipping delays, so I'm not too concerned.
