Re: headers

I've been running the Edelbrock TES' w/ the included Y pipe for several years, no issues with leakage. Scraped the Y pipe on tall speed bumps here and there with a 3.5"/4.5" drop, other than that they've been problem free.

Re: headers

There a little more expensive now than they were when I picked 'em up, I payed $295 from Summit. They're like $350 or so for the 2wds now. Still a good price considering no other aftermarket manifold offerings come with a Y pipe.

Re: headers

I know this sounds silly but what is the difference between a manifold and headers? I am looking for something to enhance the exhuast. I don't think a muffler will do the trick. I was thinking of upgrading the whole exhaust. Does it matter if you have a auto or manual? I have a 4.3. Sorry for the threadjack but it is along the lines of OP's question.

go with long tubes itll make your truck sound alot deeper
i got hooker headers for about 180 or so and i think the only thing they did to put it on was mess w/ the power steering column and no control arm grinding

mines a 98 btw

I saw the thorley shorty headers, and then magniflow cats, and then the rest of the exhaust. From summit, one could easily spend $1,500 on exhaust.

i wanted to do that but siting the frame on the ground...i cant run true duels all the way back because of the fuel lines i would have the relocate

the fuel lines are in the way a lil i just screwed them up snug to the cab and as far as i could from the pipe and ill be adding header wrap when i get a chance so everything should be ok
but if you really want headers go w/ the long tubes at idle my has a v8 rumble everyone thinks its a v8 but idk what it sound like at upper rpms since i just rebuilt it

plus they're cheaper too

Re: headers

i just worry because they are plastic and would be really close, and i only have like 5" from the floor to the ground layed out, i buddy i know did his but he reran his lines along the frame rail "because of a v8 swap"

i believe the reason why they say they dont fit is b/c the newer ones have the AIR and egr which are on the manifolds
and youd have to get a new y pipe or legally(in my state) put on 2 cats
or just get ur pcm tuned to delete all that

my truck is a 98 and i used the hooker headers, they were a 2 piece header so you could take it apart and then bolt up look up graniteguy in the 4.3 section, he said all he had to do on his 95 was a lil control arm grinding, which on mine i didnt have to do(at least thats what i was told)
if my g/f didnt lose her usb cord id show yall pics
but sometime in the future i will have video and pics up
