Going Spintech

Like the title says....I'm going spintech! I am so freakin tired of the flowmaster! I have heard really good things about spintech from alot of happy spintech owners!

I want as loud as I can get but still sound good! I have side exit exhaust with a Flowmaster Super 40 and its just not loud enough for me! I had the Flowmaster Super 40 dumped before the axle and hated the constant drone which lead me to the side exit then it wasnt loud enough for me! So which spintech do I go with?

1. Super Pro Street
2. Pro Street
3. Sportsman Street
4. Pro Shootout

Which one of the four is going to be what I want?

BTW.....It is a 2002 4.3L

Re: Going Spintech

Yea the proshoutout is the loudest lol but if you don't care about sound level go for it. I have the step below the proshout out which is the prostreet and after i bought mine i bought 4 more...2 for tiresmokinV8 and his dual setup, 1 for his 94 gmc sierra, and 1 my cousin's friend with a civic hatchback. They all sound really good and yea the hatch still sounds like a ricer it actually made it more aggressive sounding and doesn't have a big fart can on the end. I mean it does run low 12's without a spoiler, blingin rims, or decals so i do give it some respect.

Re: Going Spintech

I've been wanting to try a Spintech for quite some time now. I have true duals, no cat, OR X pipe, and headers. I currently run two Flowmaster Super 44 mufflers. I may try the Pro shootout because I like loud vehicles too. Also these mufflers and more expensive. I hope they have a deeper sound yet a better quality sound than Flowmaster. I know for sure they sound really good on 04-06 GTO's.

Re: Going Spintech

I had a super 44 before I switched over to the Sportsman, best muffler decision I've made yet. Had all the same volume (if loud is what you're going for ) with about 5% of the drone at highway speeds as the Flow.

As far as expensive, You can find Pro streets and Pro shootouts/"Super" pro streets (same thing on the last two, 4x6 case, two spin coils instead of 3) for around $75 bucks, so they're really just about as much as most places are asking for a Flowmaster.

Where are you going to order your muffler from? What did you decide to go with? I think I'm going to try the Pro shootout.

I guess I am just going to buy it directly from Spintech! I didnt know of anyone else that sells them.

I am going to go with the 3 inch single in and out Pro Shootout! Only because I want my truck as loud as possible and still sound good!

None taken, not a great camera by any means. But yes, the Spin is definitely throatier with way less resonance (still some... after all, I was running 3" piping). I used to really dig Flows, still like 'em, but I much prefer the Spins now for most applications.

Awesome I would love a sound clip of 'em b/c I'm going with the pro shootouts as well.

Is a pro shootout similar to a Flowmaster single chamber?

Their website:

Call them up.
I'm not sure yet what I'm going to run on the Chevelle. I was thinking pro shoot outs, but then again, i'm going to have cut outs on it too. So I might go with something quite.

I looked at pics of the muffler on the Spintech site and they are quite small in size. I can only imagine them being waay loud! My truck is loud enough but louder is alright too. It says in the desription that they are pretty loud considering it's a racing muffler and all. Can't wait to get them on.

Re: Going Spintech

That would be a very bad ass setup. And the pro shout out is more free flowing than the flowmaster single chamber and definitely spintechs are build better by far. They are built like mini tanks and look bulletproof once your holding one in your hands. And if before you assemble it you throw on a few coats of some silver or w/e color your like VHT spraypaint it'll last even longer. One guy on this forum has had his spintech for almost ten years now. They are just starting to become really popular now tho

So I can actually do that exhaust setup and be ok with backpressure and everything? Cuz I was gonna go 2.5" off the manifolds all the way back.

So basically from the y-pipe back?? And that should be a pretty mean setup cuz my cousin has that same setup with dual spintechs. Only until his does his LSx swap it's not gonna be true duals with the x pipe

I was gonna run true dual off the manifolds into an x-pipe then the dual spintechs....no cat.

Well that's gonna be my setup becaues I run true duals w/o cat, x pipe, and jba headers. I know most of ya'll have heard the sound clip of my truck. If not please do so in the clip section. I'm gonna order them pretty soon. Spintech really has gotten popular here lately. I think soon everyone will have one on their trucks for long.

Re: Going Spintech

How much did your headers help?? Because i heard the stock headers flow fine up to 300hp.

Re: Going Spintech

Also if you replace the y-pipe that's what helps quite a bit since the stock y-pipe is pretty restrictive

Awesome! How long did the install take? I was gonna get a cherry picker to lift the motor up a little bit...at least that's the way I was told was the easiest! Did you run into any problems you could tell me about?

I'm good friends with a guy that does all my exhaust work. He builds race cars and he's also the man when it comes to exhaust work. He charged me $200.00 bucks to put these headers on. It took him about 5-7 hours.

Before the blower I gained probably no lie 5 horsepower. lol

After the blower they came alive.

As far as the Y pipe, I'm running 2.50 true duals w/X pipe so no Y pipe.
The Y pipe IMO was a better invest before I ran true duals.
