Flowmaster vs. Spintech...?

Man i will tell you wat, i just listened to many v8 mustangs, gtos, camaros...ect with spintech mufflers and some with the ''x'' pipe and .....

so heres the thing...I am a flowmaster believer and i love the sound, but since i have been introduced to the spintech mufflers, i wanted to know your guys thoughts and reasons why i should run the spintech's vs. the flowmasters.

FYI....its a 93 s10 with a lt1/t56 going in it...sanderson headers, ported intake, and thats pretty much it for perforrmance. I will also buy the jegs ''v8 exhaust kit'' that comes 2.5 inch manderal bent from the headers back.

So i would like to do the true dual exhaust, with a ''x'' pipe installed...but I am not sure which muffler to use. So if i could get some reasons why i should go for a spintech vs. a flowmaster i would appreciate it. I really am leaning towards the spintechs now, just need a little bit of a push..

ya, hear thats the bad rap that the flowmasters get, I do like the sound that flowmaster puts out with a aggressive rumble and drone...but that spintech muffles are just sick. But they do have a lot of backpressure it sounds like. Just like how most v6 trucks with flowmasters sound.

Re: Flowmaster vs. Spintech...?

I've had more Flows than I care to remember, and none of them sounded as good as my new Spin sportsman. It's not radically different from the "chambered" sound of the original 40's, but it's just..different. Sounds great, plenty throaty without the high-pitched cling-clang that flows make at high rpms. Plus, I think my gas mileage has gone up a little bit since the install. Only been a couple of tanks of gas since the install, so it's a little early to tell.

If you're inclined to go with Flows, just get a Spintech. You won't be disappointed. I know I'm not.

p.s. I'll get a sound clip up asap so there's one more for the Spin pile, plenty of Flow clips already!

Re: Flowmaster vs. Spintech...?

Most of the GTO clips you see on their site and such are the Pro ShootOut race mufflers (seems as though they're also referred to as Super Pro Streets on few vids I've seen), They're essentially the Pro Street "street" mufflers with 2 slightly larger coils instead of 3.

Seems as though it would be hard for a 4.3 or even a 2.8 to be quiet with a pair of those, although I would think you might want to defer to a pair of the Pro Streets if the ride is a daily.

Re: Flowmaster vs. Spintech...?

either way a spintech will blow your brains out.

i have stock exhaust and already know spintech is best.

heard a video clip of a guy with a spintech on one s10 v6 and a flow40 on his other s10 v6, and the spintech sounded so much smoother and hands down sounded amazing, the flow40 sounded like crap cheap broken muffler

LOL if you want the ride LOUD go with a Pro Shoot out and a boom tube.
I heard one setup over at Ron's place [Spintech in Riverside] and it hurt my ears
so bad I had to get in the truck. It was on a local dirt track car that races out at
Perris. Good Lord that thing was nosiy !

That was probably my video, my extended cab 4.3/5spd ZQ8 with a Spintech Pro Street and my brother's 4.3/5spd Xtreme with a Flow 40.

Ok. Cool...That settles it. I think we can declare Spintech the hands-down winner on this one. The Flowmaster threads should stop any minute now.

Re: Flowmaster vs. Spintech...?

cool
maybe 4-5 years down the road I'll try one out
until then, I'll enjoy the 50 series
nice, modest sound
cause I'm an old fart (26) lol
I'd have to hear one in person to see. I like my flowmaster (but it's prolly much quieter than most peoples) and my cousin's borla on his worked 350 El Camino. The more crazy the sound, the more I like it. lol

Re: Flowmaster vs. Spintech...?

I read here somewhere that all the spintechs produce the most drone in the cab, worse then the Flows.

Actually have had both types of mufflers on multiple vehicles and I can immediately falsify this claim. Most any type of aftermarket muffler (save for maybe big $$ Corsa, etc) will have some drone compared to stock, but the Spintech definitely did not have more than a flowmaster.

Re: Flowmaster vs. Spintech...?

x2 on the drone deal...I've had almost every line of Flows that they make on multiple vehicles, and not a single one had less drone at any speed than my new Sportsman, and that's with a 3" inlet and dual 2 1/2" outlets. The Sportsman actually has very little drone, period, compared to most mufflers that I've heard on 4.3s.

Pro Shootout and if you really want to be obnoxious add
a Spintech BoomTube for street rides. That should just
about get every cop in town pissed at ya..

^ Forget about the boom tube. Just run a 3"
with a turn down. I can't even imagine riding
in a ride set up like that. I have a Spin out in
the shed. One thing about em, they're built like
tanks.

Re: Flowmaster vs. Spintech...?

Well lets' just say they are the smallest as far as case
wise. Yea, you could put two Pro Shootout's on. You have
to realize these are true race muff's and are going to be
pretty darn loud. You won't be able to install the boom
tubes, or rather it'd be too much of a PITA to mess with.

However if you want a truly small muff..Go Burns
Stainless.
