Re: flowmaster or magnaflow

I have a flowmaster super 40 on mine. Its rather quiet inside. It is decently loud out the truck. The hiflo ypipe and cat made it louder outside. Still Ive driven 4hr trips all highway with my 3.73's and have no problem talking on the phone or holding a normal conversation. PLus it sounds really good on the outside.

Re: flowmaster or magnaflow

Gibson is just a bit louder than stock and flows are not
that hot. I had one on mine for like 2 weeks and got
rid of it.

Re: flowmaster or magnaflow

yeah the magnaflow will outlast...either one will sound decently deep and rumble a bit until you get into the higher RPMs!

Then you're gonna sound like a V6 for sure.

Re: flowmaster or magnaflow

Well in one car I've got a MagnaFlow and in the other I've got a Flowmaster. Each has a different purpose.

The MagnaFlow just adds a nice growl and makes the drive more enjoyable for a daily driver. No drone, not extremely loud, but noticeable inside and out.

The Flowmaster is a lot more aggressive sounding, and a lot louder, both inside and out. I like the way it sounds better (on that car anyway) but it's not suitable as a daily driver, for me anyway. Interior resonance can drown out the radio sometimes.

But then that car isn't my daily driver, so it's ok.

Re: flowmaster or magnaflow

You can get the piping from Summit if you wanted,
but it would be cheaper just to go down to a good
exhaust shop and have them do the work. For size,
2.50 from the cat out to bumper would work fine.

do you mean for them to bend the pipeing or to install it?

Re: flowmaster or magnaflow

^ To bend and install. If you bring the muff, you should
be able to get a simple 2.50 pipe bent from the cat back,
muff welded on with hangers, and a tailpipe out the back
or wherever you want it for around 150.00 +/- to 175.00.

Some places will be cheaper others more. Just stay away
from chain stores like Midas or something like that. Call
your local exhaust shop, or drive by a few and see how
many customers they have or check out how long
they've been in the area. That tells a lot.

Any decent shop should get you up on the rack and
give you a free estimate. You decide from there.

Re: flowmaster or magnaflow

yeah and deffinately check out the kinda hangers they use lol.

hey guys somebody told me it'd be bad for valves or something to run 3" pipe from my manifolds (or maybe headers if a good fit exists) back to the tips. Is this really a bad idea?
Or just all out unnecessary?
