Re: best sound for 2.2L?

I have a flowmaster delta flow 40 series w\ turn down.
The delta flow is a little smoother sounding than the reg IMO
It's loud and doesn't sound like a rice rocket
keep in mind whatever you put on it's still a 4cyl

Re: best sound for 2.2L?

I don't own a 2.2 but I've had several friends install Dynomax Super Turbo's onto their 2.2's and they love them, and I have to agree. They have kind of a low deep mellow sound. Not high and buzzy or raspy like many fart can mufflers. They don't tend to pop either like a Flowmaster. Not much of a growl, but I think that's a trade off for good sound all thru the powerband.

i got flow master as well and pacesetter headers, if i really punch it it still doesn't sound ricey, it's about as good as you can do with a 4 banger...at idle i love it though

Re: best sound for 2.2L?

just get a basic turbo muffler and a turn down if you want sound, I got a cheap turbo muffler from the parts store, its called a thrush turbo muffler, and I gutted my caddy and welded it in and turned it down before the axle and it sounds damn good, doesnt have a rice sound what so ever or the 4 cyl sound, I wished I could upload videos and I would let ya hear it .. its like a deep muffle type sound, I cant explain it .. and its not really that loud at all, but its not quite either

Re: best sound for 2.2L?

I wouldn't reccomend a Dynomax bullet. My friend has one on his 2.2 and it is VERY lud and basically sounds like a straight pipe. Get something mellow and quiet.

Re: best sound for 2.2L?

I have the Dynomax Super Turbo it is very quiet and mellow. It's not a whole lot louder than stock. I just got this truck recently, and I'm very pleased with the exhaust tone and sound level. There is no drone in the cabin at highway speeds either which I like a lot.

I've got straight pipe to a turn out in front of the passenger tire and I think it sounds pretty good. link:

Re: best sound for 2.2L?

i like my flow 40 series. mine is with a turn down and the inside cab noise is kinda high but not annoyingly high. i love it when i go under a overpass at about 2100 rpm when im hammerin it. you swear somehtign is going to explode just cuz it gets reakly really loud at that rpm and then the overpass echos it....also parking decks are plenty fun to drive thru..
