4.3 Vortec Headers?

I started looking for headers for my 4.3 V6 Vortec yesterday, and all I could find were shorties. I didn't look very much, and I'm not even sure what I'm looking for; other than I know I want long headers. Could someone give some suggestions?

Those headers are good for 88-93 4.3's.

Try these. I'm thinking about getting some JBA's.

Yea, I got really excited and posted about them, then saw they weren't good for 97s

I guess I'll have to go with shorties, I was looking at those JBA's a few days ago... I have a cherry bomb turbo on it right now (it was the cheapest) with stock manifolds. I like it, just wish it were a little louder.

on an unrelated note, the steering is a little loose, and has been that way since my dad bought it back in 02, but the idler arm is never loose. Is there anything else that could be the problem?

Re: 4.3 Vortec Headers?

Edelbrock used to make a mid-lengh header for our trucks. No one makes bolt-in LT headers for late year trucks

Re: 4.3 Vortec Headers?

Unless you have mods like heads, a cam, a reflash, you'll only be wasting your
dough and a lot of HARD work. They're ok for high rpm's but not much going down low.

However if you're after some Edie's, here ya go. Don't know if they'd
fit your ride. You'd have to ask. Sure can't beat the price...

For the price, you could make em work. They DO have the EGR tube on em..

Re: 4.3 Vortec Headers?

So has anyone with a sfa tried using the $200 pre-1993 2wd s10 hedman long tubes linked at top of the post? I was wondering since I have so much room with all that ifs stuff cut off, they might work. Only issue I can think of is steering shaft.

I have those on my 93. My only complaint is that the gaskets are sh*t and noone makes gaskets that have small holes for the headers. Felpro aftermarket gaskets have to big of openings and make my truck sound like a tractor

SFA? I have them on my 93. Only issue thus far is gaskets and I wish I would have coated/painted them!

Re: 4.3 Vortec Headers?

BG's - Thats a good deal on those Edels. I paid a bit more for my Gibsons but not much more. Way less than normal price. Id almost consider getting those and doing the swap for the mid-lenghts.

Anyone with a 98-up have the Edels? Mine is 2003 and I dont have egr or air to worry about

SFA = Solid Front Axle a common for 4wd guys to do and run into some issues

You would not want to paint them. Get coating done would be the only way to go. JetHot runs specials from time to time. Sign up on their site and they send emails for specials from time to time with discounts. If they havent started to rust or scale, now would be a good time. It cost more to prep scaley or rusty headers

Re: 4.3 Vortec Headers?

In general no. As long as you have no leaks in the exh prior to the O2 sensors.
What brand headers are they? What model#?
What year is your truck?

On mine, its a 2003 which had No egr or air stuff in the headers. The headers I got (Gibsons) were for an earlier year with the egr port. I plugged that.
Now if you have air or egr and headers dont have both or one, then yes..prob throw a code.
