Yet Another Mr. Clean AutoDry

Alright here is yet another review of the Mr. Clean AutoDry.

I picked the starter kit at Canadian Tire for $28.99 (Canadian). The process is pretty simple as many other reviews have noted. First I filled a bucket of water with my Meguiars car soap. Then sprayed down my truck with normal water to get it wet. I then used the soap dial on the mr clean to spray down one area with its polymer soap. I then used my mit and bucket as I normal and wash the area. Then I sprayed down like normal with NON filtered water. I basically did half my truck like this. Because it was hot out, once I got half way, I then used the FILTERED water went over the areas I already cleaned. I did this because you don't want the NON filtered water to dry, which will leave spots. So once I finished washing the entire truck, I went over it with the FILTERED water. Let it dry and be amazed. This product really does work.. I have a black xtreme and was amazed. I read reviews that a few water sports in hard to get areas were left but I never seen ANY. I must admit I went over the entire truck with the filtered water for a good period of time to make sure no regular water was left on the truck (which I believe is the key)

The starter kit has a water filter that last 3 washes (or it sais). The polymer soap in the starter kit probably only lasts 3 washes also. I am curious if the polymer soap is required. It claims it helps sheet off water. I think I will attempt not to use the soap next time to see how it turns out.

Overall: This is an excellent product. I found it still look me the same amount of time from start to finish as it normally does, but the results are better in the end. I won't be using anything else to wash my truck.

Re: Yet Another Mr. Clean AutoDry

The entire key to the "water sheeting" action is the soap itself. It has an ingredient in it much like Jet Dry. It's a water softening agent which allows the water to not dry on your car and leave spots.

The filtered water is the last bit of the system that is needed, since the water is so clean, it doesn't really "grab on".

that sounds pretty cool...but i still doubt it would work here in vegas, the water basically evaporates as it comes out the hose!

Re: Yet Another Mr. Clean AutoDry

it is cheaper than taking it to get washed, and it does work pretty well.

i found one on sale at target around here for 15 bucks, and i had a $5 coupon for it. go the whole thing for 10 bucks. i'm impressed at how well it works. i still hand dry my windows, and i squegee excess water off my bed cap, but other than that, very minimal water spots. (the cap's too flat to let water drain off easily)

i use eagle one soap in my mr. clean. still works great. i like to mix a little of their "wax-as-u-dry" stuff in with the soap too. makes it a bit shinier every time i wash.

I hear ya, it gets a little ridiculous here in Phoenix too. It's almost 5:00 and it's still 110 out. I'd like to try this thing and see if it works. How much is the soap and filters?

Re: Yet Another Mr. Clean AutoDry

The Mr.clean soap is just thinner. And the reason it sheets off is cuz the water you wash it with is "soft", like in a dishwasher, softwater leaves less spots then hard water.

Re: Yet Another Mr. Clean AutoDry

I dont think it really washes very well, the soap doesnt seem to do a good job of taken off dirt or mud no matter how hard you scrub at it. Ya it dries, but I dont tihnk the finish product looks as good as a wash with Mothers or Maguiers <- or however its spelled

Re: Yet Another Mr. Clean AutoDry

Another tip is if there are any spots use those Auto Wipes, I think they are made by armor all, they come in a green box. They are basically wet naps and you use them and they leave barelly any moisture so they dry instantly and that cleans up the little here and there spots.

Re: Yet Another Mr. Clean AutoDry

I didn't like it either, did my wife's GTP with it and it left spots. Figured I would test it on her car before I tried it on my Typhoon or my Extreme. Followed the directions both times and it wasn't worth the money. I'll just go back to using Mothers products.

It left a film on it? Sounds to me like the filter on it needed to be replaced. That is the only time I have seen a kind of film on my truck but when looking at it, it was obvious that it was from the water and not the soap. You could see all the mineral lines from it. That only happened because I used the filter for like the 6th time and the water around here is pretty hard. Anybody that doesn't get good results from this system is doing it wrong. And like it was said above, the polymer soap is part of the sytem. If you don't use it you won't get as good as results.

Re: Yet Another Mr. Clean AutoDry

Exactly, the soap is the real key part of the system. Anyone notice how it is a little thinner than most carwash soaps? That's the "jetdry" in it.

Re: Yet Another Mr. Clean AutoDry

Yeah, if you was one half of your hood with the autodry soap and then the other half with another car wash soap and then rinse it off. You can see how the water sheets on the autodry side.

Re: Yet Another Mr. Clean AutoDry

I bought one and I like it. My house runs off of well water, and our water here is very hard. If I don't dry my truck after washing it it will have large gray spots all over it that you can practically scrape off with your fingernail. Drying it doesn't really get it all off either, it will still have gray streaks all over it but it's the best I can do. But using the Mr. Clean for the first time was the first time I could actually get the truck "clean". No spots whatsoever.
