Window Tint, Glass Removal

Alright how dark should i go on window tint without getting hassled by the cops. and i want it on the sides and back window. back piece is a 4 piece sliding window with a little factory tint on there. and ive heard its soo much easier to take the window out to tint... how hard is it to take out and to put back in correctly? thanks STEFAN

Re: Window Tint, Glass Removal

well i just got all my windows limo tint which is 5% and in indiana legal tint is 40% but i have sat at stoplights next to cops with them up and i haven't got hassled yet. I say go limo for more privacy (incase you get some action down the road) but idk about taking it off and stuff i paid for mine

Re: Window Tint, Glass Removal

well i don't think i want it that dark. and i don't think my dad would be too happy with 5%... would 25% be alright or what? and how much on the back since its already like tinted a little.. i don't want pitch black just darker then what it is now...

and 2 weeks ago i tried to help my friend with his 35% tint and he just left the windows in and we could not get it to go on straight or winkle free... ive taken my door apart just never taken the window out. is it a real hard job getting it out and is it really hard getting it back in to the roll up/down part? just asking thanks

Re: Window Tint, Glass Removal

tinting isnt all that hard if you take your time just get a buddy to help you out ive tinted like 2 dozen cars as for the rear window for me the sliding ones are ezer then non sliding . and as for how dark, id go as dark as you can on the back but, heres the thing say you put 5% on the back and 35% on the sides the sides will look darker then it would as if it were just 35% all the way around becuz of the lack of lite coming threw the back window hope this helps

Re: Window Tint, Glass Removal

Go here for the rules- https://www.andersen.af.mil/36SFS/tintfaq.htm#georgia. I would just get it dark like 10% on the side windows and 5% on the back. I don't think the cops even care here because ryan's old cavalier had dark tint and a tinted windshield which is illegal and i don't think he ever got pulled over for it.

Re: Window Tint, Glass Removal

yeah the laws are different here cant have shit on the sides but you can spray paint your back one black if you wanted to, also to do the sides just take the insides of the door off and cut you tint just like a 1/4 inch smaller all the way around and you should be set, like i said just take your time

Re: Window Tint, Glass Removal

It all depends on the county your are in really.. I don't have tint that dark.. Not to get too far off subject, I've got blue turn signals, and I have clear lenses that make the light look really blue, just ask anyone in my cluib (s-clusive) and in my county (pinellas) i've never been told anything about them being illegal.. Went over to Orange county for just a few hours and got a ticket. And it also depends on the cop too, but I don't know. I've never gotten pulled over in my county, but every where else I do. lol

Re: Window Tint, Glass Removal

i said it before, i know it'll get said again, i regret getting 5% on the rear window. i can barely see shit at night. i'd say a 35% for the sides and maybe a 20% rear, i probably wouldn't go darker than that.

Re: Window Tint, Glass Removal

I bought mine with fairly dark windows, and about a year after i had it i got pulled over by a sherrif and he metered them at 17 or 18%, so i had to go get them redone legal at 35% now i hate it you can see right trough it, i'd say go as dark as you can w/o gettin hasseled... good luck

Re: Window Tint, Glass Removal

last night i did both windows and when installing my passenger side it ripped so i had to tear that side off. my driver side is really ****ed up. it was huge dirt spots under the tint.. is there any way to fix that? such as take a razor to the top of the dirt spot of poke a small small hole and squeegy it out? or what should i do? any help would be nice. my sides are 5% and the back is going to be factory tint+20%.

also under the driver side tint on the outside it looks like there is still solution under it. is that going to go away or what?

Re: Window Tint, Glass Removal

Should have had a PROFESSIONAL do it... Would have saved you some time and headache and it would look good.. Instead of bubbly with dirt spots and torn down one side...

Re: Window Tint, Glass Removal

The only thing... DId you not clean your windows really really well before you did it?

The only thing I can think of is try to squeege them out... Dont cut any holes in the tint.. Just use a cleaner and a squeege and try to smooth the wrinkles out

Re: Window Tint, Glass Removal

Want to know how to take the old tint off? spray the old tint with window cleaner, then while its still wet put some saran wrap on it, smooth it out the best you can and let it dry like that. then you grab the saran wrap on each corner and gently pull, the tint will come off with it. there might be a little adhesive left behind but if left to dry long enough it should come off pretty clean. If some adhesive is left, a little wd-40 will take the rest off, Ive done this sooo many times. I know it works. but im not sure how it works.....it just does.
