White threads on body after drying
After I was my truck and try it with a shammy it leaves small white fibers everywhere.
I don't know if this is the sponge I am using the the shammy. Any thoughts? -TheComputerGuy23 |

I use the shimmy too and it works great BUT I find that they need to be replaced often or as the shimmy wear it starts to leave behind a stringy substance
So you may have to get another shimmy. |

i prefer the natural ones, the manmade ones (or at least the one i have) doesnt slide accross the vehicle like i think it should. its catches and just isnt fun to use.

IMO news paper can scratch the paint to easy. I hear of people cleaning glass with newspaper (ok becuase glass is hard to scratch) but not paint. If you want to fix the white fiber problem it is quite easy... Just paint the truck white and you will never see the fibers, lol..... J/K. But seriously, I would change what you are washing or drying with, or just let it completly air dry after you towel dry it and drive down the high way, all of the fibers should blow off. When you get new towwels run then through the washer and dryer a few times to get rid of lent, even if its a chammy (BTW, that is not how you spell chammy, but i dont know the correct way either)

Just to help everyone out.... I work at a detail shop and here is what we do...
Dry the car with a cotton terry towel. It needs to be slightly damp so it doesnt scratch the car Clean windows with same kind of towel, also damp Apply wax with a terry bonnet Remove wax with 3m micorofiber Buff with wool pads polish with foam pads (dont confuse buffing and polishing with waxing) Edit: one day I will do a basic car wash and detail how to with pics and everything, but for now being lazy is more fun Last edited by Futuresweets10 : 12-27-2003 at 01:16 AM. |

That is just how we do it where I work. A good bit of it is probably not good practice. I belive wool pads are a bad idea for one.

I always use a leaf blower to dry my car off after washing. Any remaining water i wipe off w/ micro fiber towels. mf towels are the one ones i would trust on my car. There really is a difference.
