make sure they are hot before you pull them off, youcan heat them with a hair dryer. I used WD-40 to get mine off, it takes care of the sticky stuff pretty well adn wont harm the paint

Re: whats the best way to take emblems/stickers off?
All I did was take a heat gun to the emblems for a bit to soften the glue, and then took some fishing line and pulled it from one end to the other underneath the emblem.
After that, like DropNDestroy said, WD40 and some elbow grease work well to take off the sticky residue that is left. Good luck! Last edited by LoRyder : 02-20-2005 at 07:26 PM. |

I actually used GooGone and a lot of scrubbing with a cheap rag and it all came off nicely.

Re: whats the best way to take emblems/stickers off?
Anyways, a heat gun works WONDERS. A hair dryer doesn't quite get hot enough and leaves some residue behind, but if its all you've got, its better than nothing. At any rate, I used the opportunity (and the company cash account) to basically review all the stuff I could find. Find a liquid goo remover designed specially for painted surfaces--don't worry about brands, all of them have the same chemicals in them, and all work about the same. Don't get spray stuff -- all the stuff I tried was pretty piss poor compared to stuff you can pour on a rag and scrub. If you're in a pinch, some penetrating lube like Moov-it works really well. Remove the lube with foaming window cleaner and it looks good as new. Windex and such seemed to work as well, but it was too runny--foam stuff stays where you put it. Thats my two cents. |

Re: whats the best way to take emblems/stickers off?
wd-40 works, you just need to scrub it a little harder. I took a flat head screw driver, wrapped the flat head part in a hand towel, sprayed the gunk with wd-40 and rubbed it off the the screw driver.

Re: whats the best way to take emblems/stickers off?
http://www.cardomain.com/id/slammed99bowtie some people use fishing line and press it up agaist the truck while pulling it behind the glue. i've never tried this so i dont know it works or not. EDIT: I had chrome molding and chrome wheel well molding that went all the way down the side of the truck before..... ![]() after... ![]() |

Re: whats the best way to take emblems/stickers off?
I've been a detailer for 2 years now , and any used car that comes in we have to take off the dealer stickers and what not. I've always just used a razor blade to get the sticker off. Just be careful. some alcahol will take the goo off after that.

Re: whats the best way to take emblems/stickers off?
dental floss to remove the emblems, and then the SAFE way to remove the sitcky stuff is a clay bar, NOT chemicals like goo gone and wd 40.
