What takes tar off of your seats?
I have a huge tar spot on my drivers seat. I have no clue how to get it out. Any suggestions?

Re: What takes tar off of your seats?
Tar an oil based substance, so you'll need a solvent to break it up. I would suggest some mineral spirits on a rag and dab at it as it softens up. If you don't have any mineral spirits then you can try some charcoal fluid. You should try this on the carpet in a hodden place (like under the seat) first, to make sure it won't pull any color out of the carpet. Once you have the Tar removed, you can follow up with a water based cleaner such as some diluted simple green. Another good product that would work is goof off. Hope this helps.

I've used Zippo lighter fluid to get gum off seats before, maybe worth a shot...

Re: What takes tar off of your seats?
carpet cleaner and an all purpose cleaner. same stuff your mom uses to clean household carpets it is no different from the automotive cleaner. First spray the allpurpose then the carpet cleaner then take a brush scrub, then wipe clean with a clean rag. Repeat
