Ok a few days ago i washed my car and went over it with meguiars cleaner wax because it has been a while. I am fixin to wash my blazer again and was wandering what would give me a long lasting deep shine?? I have seen a few people recomend nanowax, anything else? Also, anyone used maguiars nxt generation tech wax?

Re: What Kind Of Wax To Use
you apply very little and do only a section at a time. I do my whole truck then i rewip the truck down, the more you buff the more shine. Then i allow the truck to sit for 1-2 hours (other words dont touch the body) go clean the interior or something. Then i rebuff again. NEVER let pure carnuba dry on paint |

Re: What Kind Of Wax To Use
1. Claybar 2. Step 1 Paint Cleaner 3. Scratch X 4. Step 2 Polish Those are all done with a buffer, then I use their NXT sythentic wax which I apply by hand. Paint is better then showroom after about 5 years of abuse. |

Re: What Kind Of Wax To Use
ive always used the Meguires Gold Class liquid, but i just recently bought the Cleaner Wax, it comes off with less effort and on black paint, it looks good. I just buffed out my truck the other day with 3M Perfect-It 2, that worked really well for the first time ive ever used it. I also have a mixture i made a while ago to get the really nasty scratches out which i had to use since someone keyed my tailgate, then i did a coat of the 3M stuff over that, all with a buffer. I did the cleaner wax by hand and probably next week ill go over it with Gold Class and each wash i use the NXT Gen spray wax to keep it lookin nice. Ive actually had a few friends try to use my truck as a mirror before because of the reflection.

Re: What Kind Of Wax To Use
For a deep shine use meguiars deep crystal carnauba wax, when you put it on though have your wax pad wet and put it on realy good into the paint, wait for the wax and water to dry and it will come off easy and seems to shine better than it would putting it on reguraly..its not that expensive either

Re: What Kind Of Wax To Use
i wash with megs deep crystal wash, polish with their #6 cleaner wax..and i do that step twice, then i put on 2 or 3 coats of megs #26 yellow wax
i do it all by hand, it takes all day..but it looks insane. even tho my truck is white, it still looks crazy. i get compliments on it every day |

Re: What Kind Of Wax To Use
yea i usually put on 2 coats at the most though, anything over that is prolly overkill, if u want the shine to really come out use a buffer, but it just depends on how good you have kept ur paint up
like mentioned above if you get the zymol DO NOT LET IT DRY!!! you have to do little sections at a time unlike other waxes zymol is the shiz, but i think megs NXT , gold class, and eagle one NANOWAX all do great for the price |

Re: What Kind Of Wax To Use
i spent all day sunday buffing, waxing, etc... and i come home sunday evening in the blazer and the headlights are shining on the tailgate and all i saw was swirls. I knew it was from the buffing compound i made since it was too abrasive. So today i used 3M Swirl remover, then 2 coats of Mequires scratch x, then a coat of cleaner wax. 45min worth of work today made it perfect. I even had an airbrush artist come up to me at a cruise night asking if he could do work on my truck because he liked it. |

Re: What Kind Of Wax To Use
My favorite combo would have to be P&S Velocity Glaze, topped with Longevity Sealant, and then topped again with a coat of Poorboy's Nattys Blue. Doesn't matter what color car I'm doing, this combo gives great results. I usually skip Natty's on any light colored car, the Velocty Glaze makes up for it.
A All the waxes I've got: Meguiars #20, 21, 26 paste and liquid, Autopride Longevity (New and old formulas both), Poorboys EX, PB Natty's Blue, NXT liquid, 3M Show Car paste wax, P&S Ultracoat Wax, P&S Hi-one and Velocity Glaze, Mothers cleaner wax, Megs Cleaner wax, and I've probably gtot a couple more too ![]() Carnauba waxes are harder to remove than synthetics, doesn't matter how thick or thin you put it on (from my experiences anyway) |

I might get flamed, but I just use regular Turtle Wax on my truck. I wax a few times a year and wash like once a week and I have never had any problems. I always get compliments about it looking better than new.

Black Magic Liquid Wax for the 2004 Black Liberty Daily Driver.
Eagle One NanoWax for the Xtreme... *sidenote* Don't quote me but I think if you use a really high percentage caranuba wax like upper shelf zymols, it will basically melt off in the hot sun... Just something I heard... |

Re: What Kind Of Wax To Use
i tried out the nanowax and the black magic liquid wax. i love the nanowax, so very little goes a long way, and i LOVE how easy it was to remove. the black magic on the other hand, i could not remove for the life of me. granted it was humid enough that your balls would stick to you leg(bout 80% humidity), but the nanowax didnt have a problem.

Re: What Kind Of Wax To Use
Has anybody ever used Collinite's No. 845 Heavy Duty Insulator Wax or any other wax form Collinite's??? This stuff is great it lasts about 6 months and covers scratches and shines dull and faded paint to almost new condition and shine! I love it. Its made for boats, cars, and planes and is also used to insulate electrical wires to stop "flashovers". Nothing sticks to it. Check it out.

Re: What Kind Of Wax To Use
i have heard people saying Mcguires is crap etc. etc but i took a tour of Jay Lenos private car collection and he had an entire wall of nothing but Mcguires products, so if he uses them on million dollar cars , then i feel safe enough to use em on my 8k truck lol!

Re: What Kind Of Wax To Use
Anyone use this www.5starshine.com ? It is a PTFE. My dad wants a really good wax to put on our brand new 07 Avalanche. So far he doesn't know what he wants but he was considering this stuff. Also on that link they talk about how wax doesn't last long because it will melt off? The truck has a grey metalic color so we are trying to decide on something that is worth the money that will last long and have a good shine.

who ever told you that needs to be slapped with a full can of carnuba. ive used carnubas many times and never had them melt. i dont exactly live in the sahara desert but its get to mid 90s here .. but i definitely agree with u guys on the meg nxt. i love that stuff. goes on easy and is easy to buff out too. and when done... like glass.good product im gonna have to try that nano stuff |

Re: What Kind Of Wax To Use
I just did a little detail on mine. I did the following
1. Wash-Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash 2. Clay-Meguiar's Quick Clay 3. Mequiar's ColorX 4. Polish-Meguiar's # 7 Show Glaze 5. Wax-Meguiar's Gold Class(for the color depth, NXT make the paint "pop" a little more, so I switch back and forth) 6. Buff with a microfiber buffer pad and an orbital buffer. ![]() ![]() |
