What is the best type of spray on Rim Cleaner

I need to find a good spray on rim cleaner because I just got done spending 2 and a half hours polishing my aluminum rims and want to keep my rims up. I've heard that Meguiars Hot Rims is a good cleaner and that eagle one products are good too. What do you guys use and how well does it work. I got to wash my truck pretty soon because it finally stoped raining here and now there is a ton of bird shit on my truck. Thanks

Get them powder coated clear, you will never have to polish again. I don't like spray on wheel cleaners. I prefer polish. Mothers, or eagle 1.

I dont use spray on wheel cleaners anymore because I find that using Simple Green Automotive works better and its non-toxic and non-abrasive. I actually washed the truck today and I sprayed that stuff on the inside of the front rims where all the brake dust and dirt build up and it melted right off and I just rubbed it in my fingertips. I usually just buy a gallon of the stuff at Autozone and dillute it down to about 50-70% strength to water depending on the job. It works great and is cheaper in the long run.

I've run into detailing jobs where simple green left behind a nasty oxidized layer of residue on the wheels, If you want your truck to look good for a long time, soap/water and polish. Then again, I guess we're all looking for a shortcut. I had one of my wheels machine polished by a real proffesional, the shine competes with chrome and is so incredibly smooth it's almost impossible to get the things dirty.

If you're going on a long road trip to a show, spray a light coat of pam on the wheels, this keeps the brake dust together, when you get to the show, a bottle of 80/20 water/window cleaner solution will wipe that stuff right off.

Re: What is the best type of spray on Rim Cleaner

my tips is, I drive to the car wash, I live in a condo, can't wash in parking lot, so I wash the exterior and then I immediately drive to a different car wash, rims are relatively dry. Then I do my polishing there, just use a towel and waaalah....nice shiny chrome wheels.

I do have chrome, not alum. though....

Re: What is the best type of spray on Rim Cleaner

Bump..... I'd like to know too. I spent about an hour and a half on one rim. (Though I took it off). Here is a picture and its still not clean all the way. I have the newer zq8 rims.

I used the simple green and the meguires stuff mentioned above already.

I'm not even sure what this crap on my rims is either, whether its a combo of brake dust, grease, road tar. All I know is they were like it when I got it from the dealer. I've never got them cleaner than what you see in the pic. I picked my truck up when it was dark outside so I didn't notice the crappy job they did cleaning the wheels.
