waxed my truck and still rough

Just like the title says. When I wax my truck, the body is rough instead of smooth. It feels like there is shitload of overspray or something. Is there anything that can remove the overspray?

Clay bar will take it off. Use a paint cleaner, the na polsih, followed up by a nice wax of your choice.

Re: waxed my truck and still rough

Turtle Wax actually now has a clay bar product on the Ice product line. I'm thinking about using it on my truck this thursday.

Re: waxed my truck and still rough

I dont know why wetsanding is being thrown around for something like this. I'd say thats a very last resort and in no way something that should be done as a first attempt to remove any overspray.
First, try a claybar. If a standard claybar doesnt work, go with a more aggressive clay (usually have to order this online as most parts stores only have a fine grade clay). I'm almost willing to guarantee one of these will solve your problems. Polish afterwards and you'll be fine. Since you're in HI, give pakshak a try, he's a good guy.

Re: waxed my truck and still rough

So have you claybar'd it yet??
I have found that a good claybar will turn even the roughest feeling
vehicle butter smooth.
claybar'd my old toyota, used a cleaner , and two stage wax
almost made the paint look and feel like new.

Re: waxed my truck and still rough

I just claybarred, cleaner wax, and then normally waxed my truck the other day and the paint has never looked as good as it does now. Highly reccomend the clay bar, I used the mothers kit also.

Re: waxed my truck and still rough

Ok I have an 88 chevy silverado with a harwood fiberglass cowl hood. The hood and top of the truck are oxidized bad. I have tried buffing them out and it doesn't really help. They are not ruff after you buff them, but the color still has the white color to it. I was thinking of using some rubbing compound on the top of the truck, but I am not sure if I want to use it on the fiberglass. Is there any alternative to using rubbing compound on fiberglass?

Thats what I'd do with the buffing to really get it in the paint
